If I was - for some reason - looking to endorse a Western voice on Palestine, I would simply not choose someone who was defending Bashir al-Assad even as he was barrel-bombing Palestinian refugees in Yarmouk. This tweet is about a lot of people, but primarily Clare Daly and Mick Wallace.

Screenshot from article saying: “"For us, you have to have that conversation with policymakers. Those who are actually influencing decision-making. That is not campaign staff. It's actually dehumanizing to send campaign staff to ask us what would it take to earn your support in November when you have an active genocide that is being funded and supported and defended by the current administration," Hammoud expressed.”

Hard to take Germany's anti-AfD protests seriously when the vast majority of those white protestors hate or are indifferent to Palestinians.

For more context: this was published yesterday; today some of the people mentioned in the report were fired from their respective right-wing parties, in a desperate attempt to manage the level of nazism at the "tolerable" level. In other words, 1) it is real, 2) journalism is still consequential.

it was long overdue, but it is finally here: #StrikeGermany if you are an artist, including djs, etc. or an academic or a cultural worker of any kind, it is time to not accept any work in Germany or if you already accepted, please cancel check out strikegermany.org for more details
on black background, the word 'STRIKE' is written in big red block font, covering the top until a little under the middle of the page

and at the bottom 'GERMANY' is written in green smaller font with a white stripe diagonally over it.STRIKE GERMANY is a call for international cultural workers to strike from German cultural institutions. It is a call to refuse German cultural institutions' use of McCarthyist policies that suppress freedom of expression, specifically expressions of solidarity with Palestine.

STRIKE GERMANY withholds labour and presence from German cultural institutions. Until the demands below are met, participation will be withdrawn from festivals, panels, and exhibitions.

STRIKE GERMANY upholds a commitment to liberationist struggle and against Germany’s embargo on internationalist solidarity.

The Namibian response to the Germans, who only half-acknowledged their genocide of the Herero and Nama in 2015 and are still dragging their feet on reparations, is a thing of beauty. It is wonderful to see a multipolar world with strong African leadership emerging.

There are a lot of issues with information decentralization in our current age, but Global South actors like Namibia being able to talk back to the Global North in a way that would've had mainstream outlets portray them as crazy 20 years ago is a nice benefit

Namibia calls out Germany's move to defend Israel at the International Court of Justice when it hasn't fully atoned for the genocide committed there. Many of the tactics used on the Nama and Herero laid the groundwork for methods used in the Holocaust. twitter.com/NamPresidenc...
Namibian Presidency @NamPresidency tweeted:

Namibia rejects Germany's Support of the
Genocidal Intent of the Racist Israeli State against
Innocent Civilians in Gaza

On Namibian soil, #Germany committed the first
genocide of the 20th century in 1904-1908, in
which tens of thousands of innocent Namibians
died in the most inhumane and brutal conditions
The German Government is yet to fully atone for
the genocide it committed on Namibian soil.
Therefore, in light of Germany's inability to draw
lessons from its horrific history, President
@hagegeingob expresses deep concern with the
shocking decision communicated by the
Government of the Federal Republic of Germany
yesterday, 12 January 2024, in which it rejected the
morally upright indictment brought forward by
South Africa before the
#InternationalCourtofJustice that Israel is
committing genocide against Palestinians in
#Gaza.Worryingly, ignoring the violent deaths of over 23
000 Palestinians in Gaza and various United
Nations reports disturbingly highlighting the
internal displacement of 85% of civilians in Gaza
amid acute shortages of food and essential
services, the German Government has chosen to
defend in the International Court of Justice the
genocidal and gruesome acts of the Israeli
Government against innocent civilians in Gaza and
the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Germany cannot morally express commitment to
the United Nations Convention against genocide
including atonement for the genocide in Namibia,
whilst supporting the equivalent of a holocaust and
genocide in Gaza. Various international
organizations, such as Human Rights Watch have
chillingly concluded that Israel is committing war
crimes in Gaza.
President Geingob reiterates his call made on 31
December 2023, "No peace-loving human being
can ignore the carnage waged against Palestinians
in Gaza". In that vein, President Geingob appeals

This person is a professor of "colonial and postcolonial orders" and directs a research center on "global Islam." If words meant anything, she'd be well-aware via her professional credentials of the anti-Muslim racism in her own statement.
Post from Prof. Dr. Susanne Schröter on X, with an English translation following: Die Linkspartei möchte Palästinenser aus Gaza nach Deutschland bringen. Das nennt man wohl aktiven Antisemitismus-Import. #Antisemitismus
The Left Party wants to bring Palestinians from Gaza to Germany. One should call this an active import of antisemitism.

I keep seeing parents in Gaza whose children were murdered saying heartbreaking things like this, especially lamenting that their children died with empty stomachs, cold, afraid—their last moments of life become very important to those who loved them, now fixed and unchangeable.
Tweet by Hebh Jamal (@hebh_jamal):
Remember when they told Palestinians in Gaza to evacuate and live in tents? Yeah well they just bombed a family LIVING IN A TENT and killed 10 children. The father: "my children died cold."

The questions in this interview (with my good friend Jonas Lüscher) tell a story about dynamics in German media discourse right now. Specifically how there’s a reactionary pivot that presents itself as gestures of “left” self-interrogation — using largely US anti-“cancel culture” discourses.
Mr. Lüscher, was the Büchner Prize winner Lukas Bärfuss right when he remarked that the left is facing a "heap of shambles" because of its sometimes stubborn silence in the face of Hamas terror? Even beyond that, he sees the left in a pile of rubble when one considers the last decades.Middle East politics played almost no role for the left in recent years. Instead, there was a lot of argument with the right about identity politics, cancel culture, cultural appropriation and gender-equitable language. Is this the reason for the left-wing silence?Weren't you surprised and outraged that some on the left are now making such openly anti-Semitic statements, for example when Berlin students question Israel's right to exist with slogans like "Free Palestine from German Guilt"?
