Boy do men hate being called out by women. I’ve personally experienced and then seen a lot of stuff online of men telling women ‘shut your mouth’, ‘shut your face’ etc in these situations. The misogyny just pours from them. It feels like this behaviour is getting worse again.

Peaceful walk was immediately interrupted by a man nearly reversing into a woman & her toddlers, telling her to shut up when she shouted at him & then he summoned (summoned!!) me to his van when I told him off in retaliation. He proceeded to tell me to ‘shut my face’ when I didn’t obey his orders.

I’m stating the obvious here but I do think a lot of people haven’t clocked that misogyny also transfers to aspects of the way we treat each other on the roads.

From my personal experience many men hate being called out or told off by a woman, but these same men particularly hate it when a female cyclist takes up space on a road, commands situation for her safety & others or tells them off for dangerous driving.

I’m not saying that male cyclists aren’t on the receiving end of dangerous driving and verbal abuse - they obviously are too, but I do think there is an extra layer of aggression and underlying misogyny that fuels aggression from male drivers to female cyclists.

Yeah swimming is more effort in terms of before and after. My initial motivation was cooling myself down in the hideous heat and then as I’ve got more into it, found a routine etc the exercise endorphins are now driving me. 🏊🏻‍♀️

Swapping out running for swimming was the best decision I’ve made in a long time. Why I persevered with running for so long as someone with joint hypermobility is one thing, but the continuous heatwaves has also made running next to impossible. I don’t know how anyone is running in this heat.

The average voter, who doesn’t necessarily know the ins and outs of this stuff, is just going to attribute this kind of funding skulduggery to every politician and party and Farage knows that and is trying to play that angle.

And my other #SNLUK thoughts are that amongst the naysaying was so much snobbery about US comedy. Yes different things work in different places, but there’s a lot the British comedy scene can learn from the US one, particularly in regards to sketch, character & improvisation.
