In a real society, jib jab day (flu and Covid shots) would be a paid holiday.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

Sitting outside with a local cream ale, pub snacks, sunset over the mountains, & a Fleetwood Mac tribute band we can hear from our campsite.

Just ran the pups past an elementary school where an entire college football team was cheering for each kid entering for the first day of school and cannot accurately convey how good that was for my heart.

If you're looking to start or refresh a regular writing practice, &/or you have a story-shaped something tugging at your sleeve, you should join a fall DIVE cohort. I'd love to write with you! P.S. I'm also leading two SATURDAY workshops this fall. www.creativefuelcollective.com/events-works...

It’s not happening this year, but some year I’d love to make one of your donut rides. (This year I might have to settle for something around here inspired by your donut rides, but that sounds fun, too.)

It’s this super important piece where I feel like I’m beating my head against the wall talking to various community leaders here, who want to act like e-bikes used for commuting & errands are the same as e-motorcycles going 50. 🤦🏻‍♂️ (Open to any advice you might have!)

100% agree, though also watching the men is fun to see what ridiculous ride Tadej will put in + the secondary Qs (are Remco & Del Toro closer to Jonas than Jonas is to Tadej, etc).

It's not just that people view cars and bikes as equally dangerous -- it's that they then use these examples of red light running to argue *against* safe bike infrastructure. Drivers are never to held that standard for automotive projects!

About an hour to go in today's stage in the TDFF. Watch the femmes! One of the best ways to help bring equity to female athletes is to make the economic model more viable—a bigger TV audience is a key part of the game.

This fire burned neighborhoods I grew up in, places my family and our friends still live. Thankfully everyone evacuated in time yesterday; so many don’t yet know if they have homes to return to. Sobering and surreal.

Like he should be/is a better handler than that. But he’s also not someone that wants to risk losing to Tadej by ten minutes by the time the Tour Is over, the way this year’s Tour has been going for him, you know?

Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”

I do think pinning this on specifically Taco Bell is weird since many confirmed cases aren’t people who ate at Taco Bell at all and we know the actual source—Taylor Farms—distributes lettuce and other produce to many, many other large food businesses

A reminder: The US, by being the largest historical CO₂ emitter, has caused $10 trillion in global climate damage since 1990. A quarter of this impact is felt domestically, but it disproportionately affects poorer countries.

Today one of my favorite Animal Control* actors posted about one of my favorite books of the year (written by one of the kindest, most hardworking authors, too!), and it's such a lovely and timely reminder of how fantastic bringing books into the world can be. *A show that makes us laugh, a lot.

Yeah, I’m torn, too. I think running under some other platform (Working Families Party, etc) and as an Independent feels a little more ethical, but I also understand why some candidates do it.

Matt Stebbins @stebbinsmatt.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
Very similar dynamic here. A few progressive candidates have started running in local races as I or R because they know they will automatically get more votes if not a D. Our D primaries are open but R closed, which also changes dynamics ahead of general elections.

There’s also a larger conversation about how voter suppression heavily impacts rural communities, too—& how voting results may not actually reflect community attitudes, nor do our representatives often reflect our actual views and values, etc.
140
Matt Stebbins @stebbinsmatt.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
Exactly. We live in a rural community in a deep red state, & there are still quite a few grassroots progressive/leftist/inclusive community-driven active orgs. Our protest numbers as a percentage of population are crazy.
