Yeah, @jadubin5.bsky.social nails the Hornets' offensive predicament. They're going to take a ton of 3's - I mean a TON - and hoover up offensive rebs. But are they going to link enough good passes together to build a sustainable offense? Not sure tbh www.lastnightinbasketball.com/three-things...

They may not have much in the way of playmaking for others on their roster (I hate to keep harping on this, but I think it's that significant an issue), but they do have a lot of guys who are going to let it fly. Because they don't have a true creator, I wouldn't be surprised if those three-point percentages came down, but launching a ton of threes and making them at a slightly above league-average rate without necessarily having an elite creator for others is actually probably a decent formula for a pretty good offense. That's basically the Celtics' formula for example.

The difference, obviously, is that the Celtics have Jayson Tatum and, until this year, Jaylen Brown. The Hornets, even if you think highly of Knueppel and Miller (and I do), do not have anyone to draw the same type of defensive attention that those guys do. I expect the three-point rate for the Hornets to be sky-high, but I'll definitely be watching to see how many guys don't shoot quite as well as their career marks, because they aren't being gifted quite as easy of looks as they've gotten used to.

I'm still a Cody Williams believer! Came into the league with outlier-bad strength + had a horrid rookie yr. In his 2nd yr, he improved from 39% on 2's to 56%, thanks to doubling his rim attempts. Add in a 7'1" wingspan and good passing instincts, and there's the outline of a real wing there.

1. I don't think most fans understand how good LaMelo was last season. By EPM, he slotted in right between Cade + Brunson. 2. I still wouldn't be shocked if he's traded, bc he's eligible for an extension, and I could see this ownership / GM being reluctant to go there.
