Everything NBA, some Hornets, a smattering of other stuff. Same Statcenter but with 15 lbs of muscle.

God I love this so much. When you have a superstar, Go. For. It. Every year. And if you don't succeed, switch things up around him and go for it again. (From @jonkrawczynski.bsky.social ) t.co/8cruFaPDZV

Yeah, @jadubin5.bsky.social nails the Hornets' offensive predicament. They're going to take a ton of 3's - I mean a TON - and hoover up offensive rebs. But are they going to link enough good passes together to build a sustainable offense? Not sure tbh www.lastnightinbasketball.com/three-things...
They may not have much in the way of playmaking for others on their roster (I hate to keep harping on this, but I think it's that significant an issue), but they do have a lot of guys who are going to let it fly. Because they don't have a true creator, I wouldn't be surprised if those three-point percentages came down, but launching a ton of threes and making them at a slightly above league-average rate without necessarily having an elite creator for others is actually probably a decent formula for a pretty good offense. That's basically the Celtics' formula for example.

The difference, obviously, is that the Celtics have Jayson Tatum and, until this year, Jaylen Brown. The Hornets, even if you think highly of Knueppel and Miller (and I do), do not have anyone to draw the same type of defensive attention that those guys do. I expect the three-point rate for the Hornets to be sky-high, but I'll definitely be watching to see how many guys don't shoot quite as well as their career marks, because they aren't being gifted quite as easy of looks as they've gotten used to.

This is exceptional from @teamziller.bsky.social. When it comes to labor battles, NBA owners - and billionaires in general - do not give a crap about winning the press conference, or being right. They can constantly demand more, and history tells us they'll probably win. t.co/HfnqqHZfat

"Lakers take care of their stars", except we're stretching the definition of "take care" and possibly also "stars"
After an initial videoconference with Austin Reaves, an elaborate pitch meeting was scheduled at the team's facility. Customized pillows and blankets were designed and presented to Reaves. Steaks were ordered in. His favorite country music was played. Soon afterward, he agreed to a new four-year, $185 million deal.

NBA players are wildly petty + remember every doubter / perceived slight. Smaller NBA guards take that and multiply it by 100. They're such an inspiration.

Dammit, Sixers' bad injury luck strikes again
No Sixers team without either Wilt Chamberlain or Julius Erving has ever beaten the Celtics in a playoff series . . .

Neither is expected to be available for Game 1 on Sunday . . .

I love watching UConn but this is... not a good look for a second round game. Talent is still really unevenly distributed in NCAAW, and home tourney games don't help.

Yeah, the Jaylen / D White stats are getting uncomfortable. Of course the Celtics need Jaylen. But even without Tatum, he's been more of an innings eater than an ace.
The Celtics are amazing whenever Derrick White is on the court, but Jaylen Brown without White has been net negative.

(channeling my inner @howardbeck.bsky.social channeling Kirk Goldsberry) The Kings: - are the 2nd-oldest team in the NBA - have the #25 offense - have the #28 defense - have lost 8 straight by double digits - Sabonis just tore his meniscus Has any team ever felt this hopeless in Nov?

Two people I did not expect to become delightfully wholesome grown-ups
Warren G has six children with his wife, Tennile Griffin. Getting older, increasingly identifying with his father, fond of cooking and storytelling, Warren G embraces "his morals and good family fun".On June 24, 2010, Snow held a fundraiser, ClosURE For Cancer, at Alley Catz Restaurant in Toronto during which they raised $15,000. Snow founded his own nongovernmental organization called Pure Snow NGO, which assists "tenants living in non-profit housing".
