Stream update: I will no longer be streaming on a regular schedule.

A Discord message from Starlight that reads:

Hi all!

As I mentioned during today's stream, I am going to stop streaming on a regular schedule. I've been having lots of trouble keeping my usual schedule lately (largely due to mental health reasons), and I think it's best for me if I remove the pressure of the schedule. I still aim to stream the same amount (at least four streams per week for four hours at a time), but they will likely be at more unusual times instead of the early afternoon Monday through Thursday time slot that I've been doing for the past year.

Moving forward, I will be announcing streams again on BlueSky. You can also be notified of when I go live if you have the Twitch Alerts role on this server.

Thanks everyone for your support! I hope to see y'all in chat (perhaps at a new timeslot)!

I've been playing a lot of #Griftlands lately, and I just had to make a quick sketch about it. (Realistically, I probably wouldn't survive a year in Grout Bog, but at least I'll try to go out with a bang!)

The custom ECS I'm programming is well underway! It's not perfect and missing some functionality, but it works! In this test, 65536 entities are being updated every frame with two systems: one to move them, another to confine them. Very excited to see how much I can push this! #gamedev #indiedev

Steps in the right direction, but would you trust a policy like: "We can't catch everyone peeing in the pool, so it's okay to pee in the pool as long as it's not substantial." It's better for everyone if the policy is "No peeing in the pool." The fact you can't catch everyone is irrelevant.

Here's the first test render from my bare-bones raytracing code, showing a public domain 3D scan of a triceratops skeleton from the Smithsonian museum! There are clearly still bugs when you zoom in, but progress! 🖥️😺 You wouldn't believe how many bugs were me mixing up greater-than and less-than 😆

Lately, I've been trying to fill in gaps in my game dev repertoire by regularly sketching things and learning to play the piano again. Even though I'm not good at either of them yet, I'm having a lot of fun, and I gained so much more appreciation for art and music and the people who make them.

Note to self: be more careful with modifying resource properties. I had a strange bug where one fireball's explosion animation affected all other fireball objects in the scene. Turns out I forgot to toggle on the "Local to Scene" property on the CollisionShape3D's shape resource.

I spent the past two weeks learning shaders from scratch, and with some help from my Twitch chat, I made this waterfall shader with Godot's VisualShader system. It multiplies two noise textures and moves them over time. I also parametrized it, so the shader can be easily modified in the editor.

One of my controllers has stick drift, so for fun I made a little visualization scene in Godot just to see how bad it is. As an extra challenge for myself, I also wrote a simple shader to turn the Godot icon into colored circles.
