While we're all appreciating Roosevelt, here is a small comic.

I think if I play a game and some part annoys me it isn't always bad, because it shows that I don't just overlook things I dislike for the sake of saying the game is "good". I like giving people thoughts like "Oh I really loved this except one part bugged me honestly, maybe not you?"

You make stuff for just you and it's fun. If you were doing it for someone else, you don't have to like it, just them. You can feel bad about the result but they don't. And then that can mix up in your mind and make art about the result instead of you doing something for you for the fun of creating.

I think what people mean to say is you shouldn't *hate* doing it either. You want to make a thing and you try it and either it passes or fails, and you have feelings about it, but you should *want* it for yourself. And as a job sometimes it's about someone else's feelings, not yours, changing that.

I was chewing on my thoughts for a bit how to explain my thinking but then I had a no medicine adhd moment. but I think very few people feel explicit joy in the moment making art unless it's experimental or silly or a sensation they enjoy like making pottery or the feeling of a pencil on paper 1/2

So I know that in board games they're good because they're small and easy to make. So if you want your game to have random events a deck of cards is great for that. They're also good for pools of things if you have a bunch that would be hard to make tokens, or if they need to have effects with text.

I don't think there is a hard answer of "cards are better than anything else in this specific situation". You use cards because they fill the requirements you need and you think they are a good fit for your game. They're good for controlled randomness in physical games because they're easy to make.

Kobold Artificer has achieved manual flight!

tried to put on some colors for pride but i got a little nervous ill just have to wear a bit of each
