Drawtober 2 - Veil To honour and grieve the death of a loved one, it is tradition in many desert nomad tribes to wear black robes and a veil for a whole year. The giant terror birds nomads ride in battle, the Raa'kish, are also honoured in the same way, as they are considered part of the family.

Well, went to the cinema for the first time in a while, to see that Resident Evil film. The verdict is: Yeah, pretty good. I enjoyed it, worth a look. Maybe I should see if Forgotten Island is still playing when I get paid, it’s something to do. The buses out this way aren’t terrible on a weekday.

Sakara I think lands as some kind of bake or pasty, rather than something sweet. Like, he's warm and keeps you company when you're hungover- I mean, when it's cold out Kuveli is like accidentally picking up a pizza swirl instead of a cinnamon swirl. "Sledding" My characters (and @0laffson.bsky.social 's) the crow gang having some great fun sledding! Levis and his crow brothers often do something crazy together for fun, but ofc each of them enjoys the activity to a different level. Now even Smokie is smiling a little!. :P #furry

Another interesting place to visit. The "Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen" is an open air museum, in Lake Constance in Unteruhldingen (Germany), that recreates Neolithic and Bronze Age pile dwellings, based on local findings since the 20s.

Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen. Recreation of three log houses and two houses with clay braided wall from the Bronze Age village of Bad Buchau (1050 BCE), built between 1923 and 1931, based on the excavations of the Wasserburg Buchau. More recent research considers that the village wasn't built on stilts, so this recreation is inaccurate.

Ancient and beautiful amber pendants worn by hunter-gatherers during the Danish Mesolithic some 10,000 years ago! 📷 by me #Archaeology

My photo shows three glossy, bright orange, drop-shaped pieces of amber arranged in a row against a dark background in a museum display case. Each piece of amber is decorated with finely incised patterns. The smalleest piece on the left is decorated with a comb motif- three horizontal lines with short vertical lines on top. The largest piece in the middle has a patchwork of alternating incised rectangles, and the piece on the right has four evenly spaced horizontal rows a Ross the surface made up of drilled pits. Each piece of amber has a hole at the top suggesting it was attached to a cord to be worn as jewellery or suspended.

Amber has many properties which may have been associated with 'magic'. For example, when rubbed against fur, amber produces static electricity which can give off sparks in the dark, make hair stand on end, and attract small things towards it.

These pieces are part of the collections of the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen. They are currently on loan at the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle, Germany for the ‘Shamaness’ temporary exhibition.
