I imagine he wants a quiet retirement without having to deal with the safety/security concerns that Romney had to deal with after his own milquetoast resistance to Trump.

I’ve informed my dogs that it’s time for them to start earning their keep so I can also take an exit. Editing video for social media sounds far less painful than tech going forward. 🫠

Microsoft sells largely to enterprise customers. If those customers don’t have employees, who’s buying? Claude/ChatGPT won’t need Excel if it’s going to be that amazing in a year. And it’s not like they’re going to be able to put Copilot up as a competitor. Completely bizarre stuff.

I‘m thinking about where my pivot will end up. My baking earns rave reviews, but working in tech for nearly 20 years has spoiled me for generous work schedules… and bakeries aren’t for the weak, haha

My exhaustion is working with a capped headcount, a tenth of my 2025 budget, and the expectation of producing even more than the previous year. They agree when you say that we shouldn’t be assuming LLMs increase productivity, then point to the increased production goals anyway.

Perfect summation. OpenAI is driving people to insanity and suicide, and they're allowed to barrel on ahead with even more harmful tech. I hate this ride, I want off.

Our (now former) CMO was super hyped about an AI-powered tool that used "synthetic data" to replace the eye tracking surveys that they've traditionally had to pay to conduct to test marketing materials. It was a surreal presentation.

I've kind of gone the "touch grass" route and my rss feed comprised of of tech blogs and extremely select Bluesky accounts are basically it for me. It's curbed my misanthropic streak a bit. Not entirely, but I feel more sane this way.

Stacey 🌵 @staceymarie.me · 22/09/2025
I largely bailed on Bluesky after the election because I couldn't handle these people. Threads is worse. I wanted to keep an eye on tech topics, though, so I compromised by adding lists of Bluesky accounts I actually wanted to read to an rss feed app.

There's a lot of nostalgia for the Frutiger Aero era from the Gen Z cohorts I work with, so I've seen lots of positive takes on the orange phone. I personally like that they're going with some actual colors and want to see more 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm beginning to believe that capitalism is past the point where its managers are capable of finding ways to accelerate profit with the production/privatization of things of value. It has to accelerate profit to survive, but increasingly the only way capitalists knows how to do that is destruction.
