Every time I see "FSM" referring to "finite state machine" in literature, I rewrite it in my head to "flying spaghetti monster", with no remedy.

I just closed 440 of them. All of them were open within the last year, but the exact timelines did vary a lot. Most were within the last month, but there have been some that I had forgotten about that were up to a year old.

Obviously this is a terrible idea but also I think we need an immediate moratorium on LLMs using bi flag colors as they are not worthy of the aesthetic

I said model in the sense of the M in LLM. From machine learning model to model of “us”, that’s an overextension of the meaning. So I’d say the question does not hold.

You frame it as a judgment, as if the output had such an intent. You can just as well say that’s just the story of how your prompt would continue if you kept on going on. The autocomplete just depends on how the model had generalized how sentences continue semantically.

If you ask about non obvious stuff, it will respond, with stuff trained upon that probably included “what’s not obvious is…”, which may be useful to you, but that’s exactly what Jacobo is saying when framing it around telling stories.

Santiago Saavedra @ssaavedra.eu · 04/06/2026
Dangerous to think of it as a “thinking partner” imho. For the type of “thinking” an LLM can do is (by construction) an autorregressive completion over your prompt, meaning it will tell you what’s obvious from training data.

I understand your position, but not 100% share. Dogs exhibit intelligence markers. The dog will learn from you through your companionship and you will have a notion of being understood, on some level. The lack of such reciprocity on LLMs may be part of the cognitive dissonance here.

The US is now spending more on construction for data centers than public transportation infrastructure. Data centers contribute to higher electricity costs and air pollution —all while enriching a handful of Big Tech CEOs. Is it any wonder communities are organizing to stop them?
