Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Numerous stations had 5 consecutive days of 20C+ (mostly Dublin) in Oct 2023. A pretty forgotten remarkable spell. 020
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Quite widespread 20s for October in the south and southeast of Ireland yesterday. Fermoy Moorepark (Cork) had 22.1C, a new October record beating 20.6C on 11th Oct 1969. 3 years ago, Listowel (Kerry) had an exceptional 24.4C on 8th Oct 2023. 130
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Eh, not sure what happened with the video when I uploaded to BlueSky. It seems to have overexposed it 🤔 here’s a screenshot from it showing the rainbow at the lighthouse. 110
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Live video from the phone. It was with a Nikon Z8 and a 24-120mm Z lens. Also what do you mean HEAVILY photoshopped. Photoshop is often used to say it’s fake. All I did was dehaze in Lightroom and add some contrast. 200

Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Very rough maps inspired by the UK Met Office showing the year of the warmest summer on record over various parts of Ireland. These maps are up to 2025 and do not include 2026 yet. The first is of mean daily max temp and the second is mean daily temp. 1995 dominates. 020

Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 30/08/2026No discernible trend in back to school week improving weather wise in Ireland despite what Irish people say. Likely just a cultural thing of expectation (expectations being higher in summer/August vs early Sep with many going back to work/school). 111

Weighted value in top-left of plots. Three of June 26's days in the list. Wondering if the extent of heat in August might sneak at day or two into the top 10 as well. 031
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 25/08/2026The min temp of 0.4C also makes it the lowest August temperature in the Republic of Ireland since 2010 when the same station observed an air frost of -0.6C on 30th August. 030
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Mount Dillon (Co. Roscommon) had a min temp of 0.4C yesterday 24th August and a max temp of 23.6C. A very high diurnal temp range for Ireland of 23.2C which lands it in the top 10 biggest diurnal temp ranges at an Irish station on record. 150
Reposted by Sryan BruenJames Peacock @peacockreports.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Will this be the last NW Europe heatwave of 2026? Based on forecasts for an active MJO to be in phases 6-7 on approach to September, I suspect not. Composites for this behaviour during an El Niño event show significant correlation with ridging over NW Europe; a typically hot pattern. 1155
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 09/08/202691 hrs averages 11 hrs per day. That avg maintained would mean a monthly total of 341 hrs. A record sunny July followed by a record sunny August would be quite something. April/May 2020 was the last time the UK had 2 consecutive record sunny months. April/May 2025 almost too. 000
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 09/08/2026Away from the north, August is continuing where July left off with exceptional sunny conditions for the south of the UK. Shoeburyness on 91 hrs of sunshine for the month to date with Odiham not far behind. Would be a record sunny August if it continued like this. 110

Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Interesting the Met quoted 2 days of 37C in 2026 in the UK. So are we including the discounted Yeovilton figure now? Because if not then it was just one day no? 100
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 04/08/2026I ask this question as the number of 30C days in the UK this summer is now under some question marks if we were to disregard Charlwood. Other stations like Frittenden also up to question. 000
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 04/08/2026So with how suspect Charlwood has been and the UK Met are clearly disregarding its past 2 day readings, does that mean it should be disregarded for other times this summer it set the 30C mark. 30th July was another one but they mentioned it for that one. 120

Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 31/07/2026July 2026 is only the fourth time on record that a station on the island of Ireland has achieved a monthly sun total of 300 hrs. Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 30/07/2026A month with 250 hrs of sunshine is quite a rare feat here in Dublin. Only May 2020, May 2025, June 2018 and now July 2026 have achieved that in my lifetime (since 2000). Before June 2018, the last time was May 2000. Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 29/07/2026July 2026 has had 16 days where the UK has achieved 30C, equal to July 2018 and August 1995. Only July 2006 with 18 days has had more in a single calendar month on record as far as I'm aware. 010
Sryan Bruen @sryanbruen.bsky.social · 29/07/2026The gap is closing. 1995 now only has 3 more 30C days than 2026 in the UK. Technically, there is still August, September and even October if records break for more potential 30C days. 240
