There should be a text-based video game called “Let’s Decide on a Band Name”.

My least favorite of Jung’s archetypes is “Bucket-hat Fuck Yeah Dude”.

Time for your new favourite band? #FeatureFriday this week is the magnificent Bleak Magician and their recent release, "No Fireball Show". In my opinion, an absolute work of art. #bandcamp #alternative #indie-rock #music www.untidydownloads.com/bleak-magici...

Plan for the rest of the year: 1) Towerhouser III release (passively looking for a partner label to release physical version) 2) Demonographer single that will crush you 3) Bleak Magician album — all about Satan and witchcraft, yay!

I present to you... the music industry.

Keep it personal. Write your automated replies in your own voice so fans feel it's actually you responding. This isn't about being fake. It's about scaling genuine connection.

I took the strings off of Weirding’s guitar so that I wouldn’t be tempted to play it.

Feeling like giving up on recording and releasing music. Just going back to writing songs and whatnot. I just feel like I’m burning a lot of energy for no reason.

Been isolated and in mastering mode much of the last week and a half. Not much social media and zero writing. What have I missed?

I have been mostly completely offline the last several days. Therefore, the new Towerhouser III is ready for release. As are not one, but two new Bleak Magician albums. I have become a music production machine.

Don't know if you know this, but if you stay off of social media for a couple days you cease to exist and all memory of you is purged. It is as though you never were born.

Being a musician isn’t about selling fucking T-shirts and vinyls. It’s not about playing festivals or getting hagiographic reviews. It’s about surviving between headaches and retaining your sense of humanity. Anything else is just fuck off.

I think we’ve been successful over the last few weeks since starting up only in that I feel like it’s been an opportunity to be honest. At the end of the day, honesty is the only thing that will save you. Even if it does terrible things to you.

There is so much these days that passes itself off as music journalism that is just a mix of the gossip pages and business news. I wanted @mephistophilizer.bsky.social to represent my feelings and obsessions about music however they surfaced — regardless of any business bullshit.

I’m not Romantic about it. I wish I didn’t have to deal with it. But it is like a demon. I haven’t had fingertips since I was 14 years old. The headache that I got producing for the first time at 19 years old hasn’t gone away.

I really can’t stand making music. But I can’t not do it. It has caused all kinds of problems in my life. It drives me to distraction in every area of my life. And it has so in a significant way for at least the last 35 years.

I don’t know whether it’s apocryphal or whatever, but I remember a story about Kafka responding to the question “Why are you a writer?” with the response: “Do you actually think this is a choice I made?” I feel that way about music. I hate being a musician. But it’s not like I have a choice.

"Sawing synths and skittering drum machine patterns with toms and complex and overaturistic melodies (yes, I think Imrryr just helped me coin a new word) carry themes that occasionally will remind you of John Harrison's score to Day of the Dead." | 4 out of 5 stars.

I am looking for a record label to put out Towerhouser III in a physical format. My only asks are that your label has a history of putting out music by anti-fascist artists, you sincerely love music, and you will take whatever my cut is and donate it to your favorite animal-friendly charity.
