I'm making the data underlying this visualization open and free to use. In the past, historians spent years building databases and needed to hold on to the data until they published enough to justify the work. Agentic LLMs change this dynamic. So, I'm sharing now. github.com/jburnford/co...

Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

Archaeologists have discovered iron objects at six sites in Tamil Nadu, dating back to 2,953–3,345 BCE, or between 5,000 to 5,400 years old. This suggests the process of extracting, smelting, forging and shaping iron to may have developed independently in the Indian subcontinent.

I find this move from the NLA quite hard to comprehend. Tim's Glam Workbench and its plethora of helpful tools and Juptyer notebooks are key to digital historical research in Australia, including my own. I hope those concerned realise the value of Tim's work and reverse this appalling decision.
