I'm definitely very attached to the original game lmao. it was one of the first things i ever played, but i dont like to think of my opinion as kneejerk or clouded by nostalgia more than feeling that nintendo couldve just done the original so much more justice! In any case, please do enjoy it!

I don't hate everything about it and i don't doubt that a lot of work went into it! i just think it feels extremely poorly considered on a holistic level, and it sucks away a lot of the original game's appeal for me

I don't think its generic in the sense of it being an unreal engine prefab fest, but moreso in the sense that i think it just lacks cohesion and identity. take the combat. it looks really juicy and stylised but i think it just doesnt feel like it was made with the rest in mind

i admit what i said was pretty careless and inflammatory but j do really dislike the direction they took. it feels like a lot of designs and choices that were very opinionated in the original game were kind of just, dialled towards a very generic direction overall
