Act 3 was developed for about 8 months in concert with Act 2. Some of its assets got repurposed for Act 2, but the ones that didn't have a real vibe to me.

I wrote a guest piece for Pixel Byte Gaming and it just went live this morning! 🎉 Real Web Legends: Carter's Quest means so much to me. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, it is jank as hell. But it's also raw and emotional and completely authentic and that's something I find in short supply nowadays.

Carter's Quest pretty apocalyptically failed to catch an audience, even with Act 1, and I really do have to wonder what more people could have asked for. It stands in opposition to basically everything people complain about in games, indie and otherwise. It's for so many more people than ever saw it

This part really got me. Despite the huge jump in production quality, the entire game has been mostly planned out since 2022, and I was pretty disappointed when not many players noticed the way Act 1 was hinting at a deeper narrative under the surface. Act 2 was meant to pull that stuff into focus

ok Carter's Quest is ambitious not just as a game but narratively as well. All this build up with silly sexy wizards was leading towards a rumination where science has destroyed god so scientists are now trying to recreate god from the ashes it is still a game about silly sexy wizards

this game is genuinely unlike any other indie games out there, it's quite a miracle such a thing can even be finished and released in the current day and age considering the scale of a story-heavy adventure game project, undertaken by a solo developer i can't recommend it enough
