I’ll be honest. I started reading this in fascination. There were numerous points when I wanted to chip in with a response. But then it got too deep for me. I call myself a designer but this is high level stuff. 57 post thread and 90% of them interesting? Too rich for my blood.

Is there any research of any of these boys encountering Table Top Role Playing games? That’s where a lot of us can tell stories about TTRPGs enabling us to develop some social skills. ”never once in room where everyone else understood them” becomes “sitting around a table with their peers”.

I wonder…. Will there be a single comic on sale anywhere at the event? I have seen a LOT of complaints from comic fans about this recently. I recently watched an interview with Alan Moore where he noted a “comic book” event in a store which didn’t have a single comic on sale. (Cont.)

Asymmetrical games are great. GM and players have different roles as well as different rolls. Why should the GM have to play to the same cognitive load as other folk only steering one character? Make life easier for the GM, while also providing funky mechanics or monster powers etc.

i enjoy Refereeing #TTRPGS. But I’m not into forming long-term relationships. When playing a game I get a couple of hours with group of friends. Faux friends but friends. I go to conventions running demo games to get that feeling. I don’t care if it’s people who have played before or newbies.
