There were seven Batman Annuals done in the silver age between 1961-‘64. (DC going to DC 😆) The eighth wouldn’t drop until ‘82. On the @notnearmint.bsky.social last night the panel discussed “acceptable flaws”. For me, I give “thickies” more grace when it comes to blemishes. #SquareboundSaturday

#SquareboundSaturday time! Who’s got a cool square to share? Found a comic shop going out of biz in 2003 & loaded up on 60s marvel - got the backbone of my Thor run that day. He threw this in free bc it’s missing the back cover. #comicsky #comicbooks #GuardiansoftheGalaxy #MarvelComics #squarebound

Had a professor who had these on his reading list. First day of class he simply said something like, “Read these at a casual pace as if they were coming out in the daily paper. Don’t worry if you do not finish. Just give them some of your time.” Looking forward to “casually” revisiting them.

Priming the pump for @ladykdesigns.bsky.social’s #NoirvemberChallenge by adding three “new” films to the noir collection. “Elevator to the Gallows” is a film I can run in the background on a loop and never tire of. The double feature from The Film Noir Foundation and UCLA are both new to me.

I liked the Creature from the Black Lagoon least of all the Universal Monsters growing up because he was the hardest to place in a Gothic setting and didn't seem to fit in Transylvania. And he was the hardest to replicate for a Halloween costume in our quest to dress up as all the monsters.

Yesterday made a patty melt on rye, my fav (greasy) diner choice, 1st time in at least a decade #homecooking 🍜 Closest, in terms of taste and joy, I’ve gotten from any diner fare cooked at home. Def some tweaks next time, but cast iron for the win.

Photo of a patty melt on rye, with some limon potato chips, on a black plate, on a red placemat. Sandwich is cut in half, on sautéed (think grilled cheese) rye bread. Inside is the beef patty, topped with caramelized onions, melted white American cheese on both top and bottom.

I thought a kindergartner I’m working with said I look like an egghead. When I asked him, “An egghead?” He fortunately pointed to the screen where a cartoon bird shaped like an egg was projected. Either way, he isn’t wrong.🤣

Been a long minute since I’ve purchased any new works from DC. However, saw #3 of this book on @notnearmint.bsky.social’s YouTube show and thought I’d give it a go. Just finished the first two and the third my shop had to order me as they were sold out. I am now looking very forward to its arrival.

Picked up my first ‘66 Batman figure and started with an owlhoot. “Shame”, portrayed by Cliff Robertson. Not sure how many of these I’ll try to pluck, but look forward to adding a few more to the shelf. Almost went with the McFarlane line, but the MEGO like figure tugged at my nostalgia strings.
