Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 02/10/2026There’s a new indie opening about a mile from my house in mid-November that I will pass on the way to and from work but it’s a fantasy/romance series and that’s not really what I read. I hope they do well and that’s a smart focus. But it doesn’t do me any good. 100
Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Our indie is a great store but it’s genre focused and doesn’t carry a lot of stuff I like to read. I’ll still support it though Bookshop but it was fun to browse literary fiction in person. It’s no Powell’s, Square, Lemuria, Porter Square, and so on but it’s huge for this market. 030
Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I got out of work early today thanks to my university’s decision to rent the basketball arena to the RNC for a rally attended by the president tonight and made a beeline to do a thorough recon mission of our brand new Barnes & Noble. 220

Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Onto an earlier flight to ATL. It then ended up on the same MOB flight that I was on. I’m genuinely curious about why the bag was sent on ahead of me. 000
Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I’ll go ahead with the question just in case this works. Yesterday I flew MSP -> ATL -> MOB. I got to MSP very early bc I haven’t flown out of a big airport in a long time and wasn’t sure what to expect. After I checked in my bag, I got a notification in my app that the bag had been expedited… 110

Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 15/08/2026When I was deciding on who to ask about forming a book club, my goal was a socially compatible group of people who were committed to reading and finishing the book. The book club I’d been in before was more of an excuse to go out to dinner and chat than a book discussion, which is not bad but also 100
Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Whatever we pick needs to be available as a high quality audiobook as well. Each quarter I (a librarian) go through reviewers and create a shortlist of three titles, which everyone else ranks (I don’t vote unless I need to break a tie). I use ranked choice voting to pick the winner. 100
Ellen W. @spurioustuple.bsky.social · 15/08/2026All of the club members have connections to academia so we meet quarterly and so far everyone has been able to finish every book. I ran a survey when I was setting up the club to ascertain a standing meeting time and also find out what people wanted to read, which is new fiction. 100
