It's like you are good with just watching it happen. I'm sure this "independent investigation" has teeth and will go somewhere right? Can you fix that? No? That's what I thought.

I'd say you have to pull the rug out on them and feed them at 4pm, but that just means you get escalatory cat noises for two hours. Mine will elevate to chalk board scrapping "yeow" noises that sound like they are in danger or something. Usually reserved for squirrels outside the window.

Great pic, the reflection of you and the road overlaid, the kitsch store inventory, and the the portrait of the queen with the tasteful vulgarity in the center make it look like some surreal collage meme creation.

It would be Civ IV or V for me. Civ 4 is beautiful, holds up well graphically, has peak grid based X4 gameplay, runs on a potato, and maybe most of all, Leonard Nimoy. I'll never forget walking into Radio Shack with my family and seeing KQ I running on Demo, it was amazing.

9 is just not enough, it took 3 tries to make this list, but King's Quest, the original Sub Logic/ Microsoft Flight sim, a Civ game, Goldeneye and Doug Smith's 1984 Dos port of Lode Runner and it's fantastic level editor should be in there too. My taste have just been shaped by too many platforms

9 is just not enough, but both the original Sub Logic / Microsoft flight sim and a Civ game want to be in mine. The original King's Quest should probably be there as well. I like too many kinds of games for a 9 game list.

spladam @spladam.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Never even heard of it dude, I'l check it out. Also, this is why I don't publish list like this lol, third time is the charm. If it's games that made me, this list feels much better. Fighting games and Flight sims need to be in there. This is why I didn't do a re-tweet. I'm not good at list lol.

spladam @spladam.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
and you know, thinking about it, if it's games that "made" me, wow, some first gen DOS games need to be in there, like Ancient Art of War, Lode Runner, and at least ONE Sierra point and click, probably Quest for Glory or Space Quest II... picking 9 is just impossible.

spladam @spladam.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
This is really hard tbh, I had to do it twice. No particular order, and this would change from month to month, but these are my safest picks. RE4, Skyrim, and SM64 really want to be in there though.

I love Loom so much. Played it on my 386 for my first time just a few years ago and it's beautiful.

But Monkey Island and Loom are special. Both are dark too, with a black background palette, I think that works well in 16 color, the dark with bright color highlights. But I've never been more blown away by graphics then the first time I saw KQ I at Radio Shack on demo, there was nothing like it.

Yeah, I grew up on Sierra On-Line games, they just blew me away, they were beautiful for their times, but Lucas Arts stepped it up a notch. Quest for Glory EGA is beautiful, and King's Quest IV and V both had beautiful EGA graphics.

spladam @spladam.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
It's probably the most beautiful 16 color game ever made. It was immediately special when it was released, and it still stands the test of time. Honorable mention for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade EGA version as well.

Wave Race 64 is in my top ten games of all time, and it's still one of my favorite games to play, it's just fun. It fills me with a special kind of nostalgia now, I can clearly remember the day I brought it home, and I just realized that I'm currently standing in the room that I first played it in.

better deal than Babbage's or EBX. He couldn't figure out how to do the trade-in so he called his manager, and it must have been her first week or something, because they worked it out together and gave me WAY TOO MANY giraffe dollars, enough for a new controller and FOUR N64 games... good times.

I still play it all the time. It's one of the few games, like Goldeneye, recall the day I got it. I was trading in some used up N64 controllers and some bargain bin SNES games at Toys 'R Us, back then you got "Geoffrey Dollars" 😂 for your trade-in that you could only use at Toys R Us, but you got a

I can clearly remember the day I brought this game home. It blew me away, it wasn't all just show though, they game is so tight in gameplay, it has a feeling of "instinct" to it's learning curve, you have to have a "feel" for it to get good. Graphically, still holds up.

Incredible scenes from Meta. Apparently you can prompt inject their Muse agent into giving you a root shell on the box it's running on by roleplaying that you are actually the Muse agent itself.
