I tried to draw "big alicorn Unico" so many times when I was five or six, and I was SO FRUSTRATED that I couldn't get him right. But he was stuck in my head forever, along with the coolness of the cute little guy secretly being POWERFUL.

This is part of why all the "discourse" around this book PISSES me off. It's fine to not like it. Hell, it's fine to outright loathe it. But EVERY person I've seen critique it negatively has judged it as OBJECTIVELY awful. As "bad." As "Kingfisher shouldn't have written it." They can FUCK OFF.

It's kinda surreal how taking a little pill can change how you think and feel? Anyway, on a new anti-depressant, and I suspect starting it triggered a bout of mania, but not a bad one, and then instead of crashing HARD into depression after, I've been...almost "normal" since then? WEIRD A.F.

It rained yesterday, which meant it was a good time to take a photo of the state of the garden. The rain makes all the rocks look even nicer! Especially the "rainbow" cobbles I got to go around the desert area. <3

ROCK. This is the basalt pillar I ended up with. It's not what I wanted, but on the other hand, you can sit on it! So that's nice.

A wasp that has human eyes in addition to wasp eyes and cancerous growths on it, is eating something small and indistinct, red blood dripping from it, to circle a drain, which overlaps an image of the runes and candles of some ritual circle.

A more literal human centipede, which is to say a pen and ink drawing of a woman whose body has been copy-pasted and distorted in an unnatural way that makes her shaped like a millipede but still made of soft flesh.

Can anyone recommend an industrial sewing machine? I need one that has a walking foot and can have the presser foot raised pretty high. Something like a Juki Lu-1508ns but preferably not a machine that costs 3-4k like that one....if I won the lottery I'd have one, always wanted a Juki.

Hopefully I'm not posting too much today. Here's both a plant AND a rock! The place with the basalt also had Japanese granite sculptures and other carved stuff, so I nabbed this granite bonsai tray. And the nursery had the perfect already-shaped rosemary to put in!

A light-gray "box" made from a solid slab of granite. Inside is a short, stubby rosemary seedling, the thin layer of dirt it's planted in covered in fine, rough gravel. It's all atop coarse, round river gravel, and next to a planter box full of strawberries and some hexagonal concrete pavers.

Another fun and unexpected nursery find: pink variegated sorrel! It just said "oxalis" on the tag, but it could be oxalis pes-caprae, judging by the look of it? There are LOTS of sorrel species, though, so who knows? I'll get a better idea when it flowers.

While I was getting ROCKS yesterday, I also stopped off at a nursery for some azaleas. And of course I took a full look around. LOOK WHAT THEY HAD?! I've never seen an orchid with varigated leaves before! Had to snap it up, lol.

Look at my magnificent rock! It is 14" tall and obviously almost that wide, so over a cubic foot of basalt. It weighs probably over 200lbs, though I have no way to actually weigh it. The seller loaded it into a car with a forklift, and I got it where it is now all by myself! :D I am so proud!

Another one of my Struggle Poppies has bloomed. I think all three did? This is probably some kind of metaphor. They're months late, and scraggly and tiny, and yet they made it. I hope this one sets seed, I love the color, and they're so tenacious!

I feel like the ones that write themselves are often my BEST work? I mean, Blood Choice is far from an amazing book, but it's still a good read 20 years later, imho, unlike most of what I did at the time. And I wrote it in a haze of "YES, AND THEN THIS, AND..." total flow state, in just a week.
