What's your "origin" video game? Space Quest (1986) for our Tandy 1000SX. The humor, the light sci-fi/adventure story, the problem solving - it was custom made for me. I played the whole series, as well as a bunch of the other Sierra games after that. But the SQ games were always my favorites.

As someone who grew up near Bloomington (and Paxton, where Gayle is from), I heard a lot of this kind of thing as a kid. GPK, D&D, Madballs, Mortal Kombat, He-Man - basically anything that was even slightly edgy, was seen as immoral. Small, Midwestern towns, man. So glad I left.

I found this editorial really interesting, going against the grain of the "everyone loved Star Wars" mythology we've all heard. It also just goes to show that the "it's not very good" vs "it's fun, though" conversation regarding film (and especially Star Wars) will never go away.

I loved Destroyer! I still have him, but he's not only lost his treads, he's even lost a foot (Diabeetus). And, yes, the half-tank/half-robot mode was always my preferred way of playing with him.
