Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:

Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase

Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

What must it have felt like to wear this hat, surrounded by bronze age sun cultists. You'd be wizard-priest-king of the world. There would not be a single doorway you could fit through.

Could be that when you say "to Enterprise" the vowels run together awkwardly, and the "the" separates the words, whereas "to Voyager" and "to Discovery" don't need that?

Elite on the Commodore 64. I could never even get very far (I sucked at space combat, also docking), but I loved the space trader fantasy so much that I kept coming back.

The reasons they were Muppets or in a black and white movie were disappointing, but the reason they had a soap opera episode was great and could have explained any number of genre pastiches.

I'm enjoying this season of Strange New Worlds, but... if you're going to do half a season of genre pastiche episodes, why not tie them together with a single explanation? Different genre each week, and the season arc is figuring out why you're in a different genre each week. #StarTrekSNW

Maybe this is part of why it made such a great movie - the book already works like a movie does.

It also means it's using physical descriptions actions and objects to convey mood and pacing. There's one bit where it spends like a page describing Sam Spade rolling a cigarette in exacting detail, conveying a thoughtful and focused mood without ever getting in his head.

Combine that with a story about people who are constantly trying to deceive one another, and it becomes a puzzle just to work out moment to moment what they characters are thinking and what they're trying to accomplish. We don't even really know the protagonist's goal until the very end.

The Maltese Falcon (the novel, which entered the public domain this year) is written in a really interesting way. It's in the third person and it's all external. We're told what characters say and do, but never what they're thinking or feeling. standardebooks.org/ebooks/dashi...

I love the idea of a live-action Dan Dare TV show but this looks like it would have been way too ambitious for the technology of the time...so perhaps getting some some sci-fi artists to do cool concept art and then cancelling the project was the best outcome.

A lot of people seem to take it as a fact that the private sector has secret efficiency magic the public sector doesn't have. It doesn't. It pays workers less and charges more for the same service. That's like 99% of private sector "efficiency." And everyone's worse off, except shareholders.

I'm not sure what from the original Flash Gordon strips is canon in the new one, but I'm amused by the idea that Ming trying to abduct and forcibly marry Flash's girlfriend wasn't personal, but whatever's about to go down in Tropica *is*.

That's odd. I've been under the impression these are wholly unrelated systems. Wouldn't it be weird if we all just found out they were the same single thing just under different brand names at different storefronts. All 3 at once huh. Hmmm

Verdict on Battlestar Galactica (1978) after watching all of it: This is a great show overall despite a few truly terrible individual episodes. An uneven classic, definitely worth rewatching. There are also more elements of the remake already here than I remembered.
