A troop of 30 monkeys visited me on Christmas. Not sure why they came, what they wanted, or what it meant. Our brief encounter was delightful and frightening, until the kid next door lit a cackle of firecrackers to shoo them away—apparently the proper way to get drunken monkeys to leave.

Oh that’s a sublime image. I’ve never met him. Erik Davis & I had his phone number and were planning to go to his 6pm satsang/reading/discussion of a yogini text that he’s been translating. But the slog of the day caught the better of us & then we received word that he was sick.. Then passed away.
