Bad apology. Say how this happened...and in TWO SEPARATE IMAGES (a fact that has been under-reported; it's not just one!) that BOTH evoke this horrifying history? Where was the oversight? How will you ensure these racist visuals won't recur?

Should he have done this sooner? Yes. Should he have shot the scene at all, even in 1975? No. Is his conduct way better than Zeffirelli's and Polanski's? Yes. Is that a low bar? Also yes. Are we glad people can learn and grow and do better? FOR SURE YES.

Good apology from Wim Wenders to Nastassja Kinski, one that involves action as well as words. He's sorry for the topless scene filmed when she was 13, and he's withdrawing the film until it can be reedited in a way that works for her. 1/

Why Justice Sotomayor's apology to Justice Kavanaugh makes sense
There are just nine votes on the court, and each time they cast those votes they’re setting the rules that all of us need to live under for now. Sotomayor knows that.

We don't have context because the original post is gone, but this sure seems like a good apology. It uses the word "apologize" (well, "apologise," but y'know, British) takes ownership, shows understanding of the harm done, makes amends.

This statement from Deepak Chopra (whose MANY emails to Epstein, post-2008 conviction, included "bring your girls") is crap. "Saddened" and "regret" are about CHOPRA, not about how others have been harmed. All he's guilty of is poor judgment! He's a hero! 0/6 in our framework for a good apology.
LinkedIn post from Deepak Chopra, reading: "I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms. I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity. Some past email exchanges have surfaced that reflect poor judgment in tone. I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time. My focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors."List of the six and a half steps to a good apology: 1. Say you're sorry. 2. For what you did. 3. Show you understand why it was bad. 4. Don't make excuses. 5. Say why this won't happen again. 6. Make amends. 6.5. LISTEN to those you harmed.

Re: Kanye West's apology: Brain injuries and bipolar disorder do not cause antisemitism. Blaming those things for separating you from your “true self” means not taking responsibility for what you've done ... which is one of the key elements of a good apology.

This is a good apology. Takes ownership, names the offense, acknowledges the harm done, uses the word “apologies” (not “regret,” which is about self rather than other). Also, we generally prefer media not to delete a record of what was published; Kruse preserved AND shared what he did wrong. Bravo.

Via @evgrieve.bsky.social; a group of fratty fellows were caught on video stealing an East Village empanada shop's sign. The shop shamed them on Insta & asked for help ID'ing them. The next night, a person in a hoodie, sunglasses & ski mask returned the sign...with an apology Post-It.
Photo of an orange street sign that reads "Titi's Empanadas, Coffee & More!", with a cute cartoon of a woman with her hair tied back with a kerchief, holding a plate of stylized orange and yellow empanadas. A small blue Post-It can be seen on the sign. Photo of a close-up of the Post-It on the Titi's Empanadas sign. It reads, in childlike handwriting, "So sorry It was a dick move ..."

Blaming Coldplay in your apology is certainly a choice.
Photo of Byron and employee canoodling at Coldplay concert juxtaposed with Byron’s apology: “What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake playing out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family, and the team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader.

“This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I'm taking time to reflect, to take accountability, and to figure out the next steps, personally and professionally. I ask for privacy as I navigate that process.

“I also want to express how troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else's life into a spectacle.fi

Apology experts here <checking research>: No apology owed.
January 22 post from 45, made on another platform (with untruthful statements, incorrect capitalization and grammatical errors preserved): "The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Tr*mp hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart. She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people. Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions. It is a giant crime wave that is taking place in the USA. Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!

Sanchez could have made clear he understood why people were angry: It LOOKED like he didn't care about the game; he seemed to feel he could kick back and picnic because the Jets were way ahead. (It's not over til it's over!) But this is small potatoes. (Fried potatoes. Go well with hot dogs.) 7/

A pretty good apology. Uses the word "apologize" (rather than the pallid "regret"), names the thing he did (rather than "the incident"), offers explanation (queasy!) but not excuses, pledges not to repeat the offense. How could he have done better? 6/

In 2009, during a Jets rout of the Raiders (38-0), Sanchez noshed on that dog. People felt it was disrespectful to the game, that it was the kind of thing you do AFTER work, not during. 3/
