Cell biology for a sustainable future – a call to action from Camila Costa, Eliott Flaum, @dhlashwayo.bsky.social, Marie Jacobovitz, Guillermina Kubaczka, Samuel Lovat, Eliya Milshtein, @hannaszafranska.bsky.social and @sorayazwahlen.bsky.social. journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/...
Drawing showing that planetary cell biology is a field that combines environmental sciences and cell biology. Understanding cellular function and its environmental context can be useful in explaining larger-scale systems operating at the multicellular and ecological levels. Furthermore, planetary cell biology provides key insights into how biological systems might adapt, be resilient to, and even mitigate, environmental perturbations associated with the climate crisis, such as changes in temperature, pH, pressure and other conditions.

Exciting day for the lab: our 1rst paper is officially out in @currentbiology.bsky.social 🥳 Wonderful collaboration wt @gautamdey.bsky.social showing how Cryo-ExM achieves consistent immunostaining in diverse diatoms, from the lab and the natural environment 1/n #ProtistsOnSky tinyurl.com/2zxaund7

90% of you probably don’t need to read this. But maybe some of you are curious & 10% will feel seen. Or a little less alone. This isn’t about seeking sympathy. It’s about sharing something hard to say out loud; partly to heal, partly in case someone needs to hear it too. (1/3) tinyurl.com/DudinO

Excited to share the lab's 1rst preprint! Rapid high-res immunofluorescence is now possible in cultured & environmental diatoms thanks to 4-fold expansion microscopy. A step-change for comparative cell biology in one of the most important phytoplankton groups on the planet 🥳 tinyurl.com/m9s5su7s 1/2
