The NHS Guidance on trans people in hospital will protect zero women but will badly harm trans people. What a hateful disgrace and will be remembered by future generations as a stain on us all.

The animated Watership Down terrified me as a child and scared me away from reading the book my dad loved so much (I later read it as an adult and realised all I missed out on and what a tonally divergent adaptation the film was)

I never realised that Dolly Parton couldn’t have children because of endometriosis. And that she was public about that in the 70’s and 80’s, when there was even more stigma and shame around infertility and menstruation than there is today.

Trying not to get wound up by this use of GenAI on CILIP's website... (Were I overthinking it, I'd think it says: are librarians principled enough to take a stance against GenAI? No. But are they competent enough to use it well? Also no. Ah, but can they proof-read websites? Still no.)

In case you’re wondering why Actual Play (recordings of people playing roleplaying games) hit hard with its core audience, it’s because at its best (and even at its not-so-great) you get to watch people make art, often with a strong attention to character, with chance rather than suits driving plot.

Something I love about Count Binface is that he’s clearly been played by several different men at this point, while remaining the same character. This makes him a quintessential British Hero like Doctor Who and James Bond.

Well #OperationMincemeat was certainly quite a show! Fun songs, great actors (who can switch between roles in a beat), and a show that grapples with moral questions without spoonfeeding answers. Great job! @mincemeatlive.bsky.social

I'm very fond of the library in Baddesley Clinton - it's why Lady Georgiana's quote is my profile header!
Written quote: I adore a library, and should be glad to think that some volumes or my thoughts might slumber on its dusty shelves. Yes; even if they were never read, it seems to me a pleasant sort of tomb for the mind - an appropriate abode of repose for the best and most genuine part of ourselves. (Georgiana, Lady Chatterton)
