Following along @mzakharuk.bsky.social's reread of @juliaserano.bsky.social's "Whipping Girl". Barely any cis people understand the rampant rape culture inherent to the medical gatekeeping of trans healthcare. These "professionals" know the power they hold over trans people and often abuse it.

All of this. I also want to add that, in my research, I found that a lot of “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story actually came from gender bias affecting investigators’ record keeping and interview methods.

I've actually lost quite a bit from transition. I no longer talk to my parents, and it's become substantially harder (though not impossible) for me to get journalism work. But I sort of don't notice any of that? My life is endlessly better in all the ways that matter.
