“A Confluence of Magical Arseholes” is a musical comedy in the vein of Monty Python about W. B. Yeats, Aleister Crowley, and the Golden Dawn (or, I’d wager, the silly urban legends around the Battle of Blythe Road). It’s part of the Minnesota Fringe Festival, and showing on August 12, 15 and 16.

Fringe review: ‘A Confluence of Magical Arseholes’ leans into its energetic chaos
With props, live music and exceptionally talented performers, the confusion is part of the fun.

One thing we don’t talk about enough: the last 20Yrs of disinvestment in arts, science, & the humanities. When you strip schools of philosophy, literature , creative practice, you don’t just cut budgets. You narrow imagination. Empathy is a skill. So is critical thinking. #Momsky #Pinks

Spiritual abuse is prevalent in the church. Even when leaders are accused of it, they find ways to gaslight and blame the victim. And, often, their apologies are non-apologies. They believe the most effective way to make the problem go away is by silencing it.

General rule going forward: If you schedule me for pastoral care and don't cancel or tell me you'll be late then a) don't expect me to wait around and b) don't bother again. My time is valuable, even if you do not view it as such. Further, my scheduling fee, if any, is nonrefundable. THANK YOU 😇

Happy #NationalDrinkWineDay!
A bottle of red wine, with a label that reads "Bela Lugosi's Red". Underneath it reads "Translucent Black Grapes" and the art from the cover of the Bauhaus debut single, which was in turn taken from the 1926 film The Sorrows of Satan, directed by D. W. Griffith.

It is also labelled a French Merlot but that is neither comic nor gothic. No, I don't know the origins of the picture or where you can get the wine.

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum. Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.

Deepak Chopra in the Epstein Files is another reason why I side with the Radical Reformation when it comes to the structure of religion. No gurus, no bishops, no heroes. The community discerns God together in humility rather than sanctifies itself vicariously through so-called holy ones.

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

“Start building these connections now.” The lesson coming out of Minneapolis is clear: when communities are connected, people are safer—and harder to repress. Build relationships, practice mutual aid, and don’t wait for crisis to begin. Read more: bit.ly/4pYR6Ss #ICEOut #Minneapolis #UU
A blue-toned photograph of people gathered closely together, arms around one another, suggesting community and mutual support. Over the image is a large white text quote that reads: “Start building these connections now because when ICE, or another government entity, comes into your city, you will be more ready. You will be more connected, and more connected people are safer. More connected people are harder to repress.” The quote is attributed to Lena Gardner, Minneapolis resident and executive director of Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism. The UU World logo appears at the top, and a yellow banner at the bottom reads “UUWorld.org.” A photo credit along the left edge reads “Image © Chris Northcross / UUA.”
