still adding juice to basic attacks, i need them to feel GOOD. here it is with the button prompt lined up correctly and a bit of slo-mo on the prompt i'm kind of hesitant to add slo-mo because i liked the button press being tied to damage directly, but it solves a ton of tuning problems soooo

Better previewing for Fireball. I'm internally calling these indicators 'skill templates,' inspired by Warhammer Fantasy (I haven't played since the early 2000s...) and its flame-breath or cannonball-explosion plastic shapes you'd overlay on the terrain to find hits

So the template for fireball now shows where the missile will appear, shows how it'll move in that first tick, and also previews the on-hit effect if it'd hit something. I may want to add some lighter previewing of the missile's full projected path.

The Fireball skill 'conjures' a fireball.. missile? I don't have a good player-facing word for it yet. A game entity that continues to live on the board, and updates every "tick" (between character turns). A fireball missile just moves forward 2 spaces until it hits something and then blows up.

also being real with it, i just had a close encounter with finally being offered a job (i thought) and it made me scared that i might be taking a wrong fork in the road of my life if i put RF on hold again. so going to try to take seriously the possibility of finishing RF *now*(ish)

OK easy fix #1. Putting a little rim light on the characters so they're easier to pick out against dark backgrounds. This is just a directional light parented to the camera pivot (but rotated 180 and tilted down a little) with its layers set show it only hits characters.

That's cool. I'm sure all the BitReactor devs that were furloughed weeks before launch are gonna see some of that $50 million... right? Residuals are standard in other creative industries. If the people who actually made the game got their share of the profits, we wouldn't be in this mess.
