The thing that gets me about these lurid anti-Zionist statements, like the one the Greens just passed, is that it is *so fucking easy* to criticise the Israeli government without engaging in that type of language.

This is a very good piece that explains what Zionism is, why it's so fundamental to Judaism, and why this Green conference resolution is so utterly toxic and racist to its core www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The Green party’s anti-Zionism motion is yet another attempt to tell Jews how we should think | Jonathan Freedland
The resolution shows little understanding of what Zionism is, who Jews are or how antisemitism works, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

Trains leaving a minute early has become a thing!! I grew up in Switzerland, the gold standard for how to operate trains. Not done there. How has this become a thing in the UK?? As a cultural artefact, what does it say about how we’re changing? Baffling.

That the “godfathers” are so sure about the threat is irritating the otherwise convincing arguments that Ai isn’t anywhere close to become a autonomous threat (all threats still come from human abuse of the tech). Though is them being parent-like invested and hence biased enough of an explanation?

And there is no reasonable interface that I can imagine ever existing that would translate those skills in a culturally competent way — and it’s all cultural — for people to make that leap.

Anyone supporting this motion is, at best, an imbecile. More likely they're a straight up cunt. If Polanski backs it, it would be an outrage. But even his failure to speak out against it is pretty damning. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Greens urge Zack Polanski to take stance on proposed policy declaring ‘Zionism is racism’
The Green leader has not spoken publicly about the motion, which is likely to be debated at the party’s conference in October

But Ai does not only change how we code. It is also changing how we learn, how we interact with products. Everybody’s means of information processing is changed.

Marc Burgauer @somesheep.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
Very interesting. When is a change “fundamental”? I think Ai changes many things strongly, some of it will impact product development. Just not the way Ai companies try to sell it.

Are you saying that the entire idea of this ideology is to legitimise oppressing people by classifying them as privileged irrespective of context? 😲

You thought trade with us would make us more liberal. In fact we learned you didn't care about our barbarities so we took it as a green light to do it again. So we did. If anything "change through trade" made your governments more like ours, rather than us more democratic.

I did a podcast on my book Serving The Reich yesterday, & in looking back through the book I came across this quote from Paul Rosbaud (an extraordinary man) on the response of the German professors to the 1933 Civil Service Laws. Ring any bells in relation to alleged "wokeism in academia" in the US?

Speed and strength can be perceived quicker and with less acquired taste. There’s an immediacy in the experience and the lack of any lasting control, a consequence of speed and force, adds to the shared drama. I’m happy we moved on from Gladiators, though.

Yes, I think gymnastics, exactly because it has those constraints, is more artistic than football, which lacks those. But then, I don’t think gymnastics has the same level of shared emotional experience, it doesn’t have the mass appeal of football for the same reasons.

I mean really. this is the day that the left could prove that it has ethics and not just favourites. it's not hard. I used to think the left was ipso facto moral, and understood the arguments for human rights applying to all humans but the past few years have unfortunately disabused me of that.

We need to stop this nonsense of insisting on viewing scientific error as a problem to be eliminated. Scientific error is the fuel we need for scientific progress. Without uncertainty, we don't need science. With forced certainty and required faith, we get religion

The Dunbar number points at an important limitation: that we have a limited capacity to form and maintain relationships, but the number itself is simplistic and a poor representation of what is a complex dynamic and therefore inevitably conflate the problem in context in a toxic way.
