Sean @solive.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Of course with all the real world derates from charging, temperature, aging, etc, maybe 10 miles is more realistic. I'm not sure what percentage of a battery you'd need to save to make it worthwhile... 120
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Quick maths, I'd guess you could fit ~2 kW of PV on roof of a big delivery van. In sunny parts of US you can get 5.5 peak sun hours on average so 11 kWh daily. The EDV van Amazon uses quotes 160 mi on 100 kWh so adding roof PV gives 17 extra miles on a sunny day ignoring weight/aerodynamics. 130

Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026LLM: There is no way that is happening, you'd have to be functionally brain dead to even consider it. There are decades worth of literature about how this won't work. You'd need systemic failures across multiple independent chains of government. Complete loss of self interest! Talking meat: 0100
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yeah I've seen these too, seems amazing to live above your grocer. There's even a costco in LA I think that has units above. But I imagine its far riskier and difficult to pull off compared to a normal 5/1 and you'd need a tenant 100% committed to the location before you break ground. 010
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Sorry, this was a one-shot? No follow ups? As in you told Opus "make me a cool science music video about evolution" and it sent you this? Or did you pick this one out of a few different tries? Either way that's fucking insane if so. 110
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yeah I wouldn't expect one building's residents alone can support a store, I meant more that it should provide a good base of business. In addition these 5/1s are often clustered and located on large streets so you'd have multiple buildings and passerbys to draw from. 040
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Being a 60 second walk away for 5 floors worth of people who can afford rent in a brand new apartment should be plenty of its own demand, I would think. If the rent is reasonable it should be easy money if you're selling coffee, booze, and/or food. 130
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I gave in and checked how long "The Sequences" are. I am not reading alla that shit. Maybe one day but not today. 030
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Probably the spaces are too big and the rents too high. I've seen businesses share the space. Maybe the owners should consider renting out stalls or something so the rents are more approachable. 290
Sean @solive.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yeah same but I suspect that's an orthogonal issue with financing terms. My personal theory is that they are incentivized to choose "no tenant" vs "lower rents" for valuation reasons or taxes or something. 1120
