like being real the only actual solid predictor of transition success is money. being an obstinate little bitch that locks in really hard will get you far for sure but that doesn't and can't make up for material reality. if you are loaded you can speedrun passing in 3-4 years. that's just true

I have a new article out in Sexualities on cisfeminism, or feminist transphobia that is not straightforwardly 'TERF'. Honestly, I feel a bit weird promoting this article in the middle of all this horror. But I do think the section on epistemic practice touches (cont) doi.org/10.1177/1363...

Exactly but also, people who draw "manly" trans women want to claim subversiveness for themselves, they just don't want to be seen as AMAB cos they have conflicting cisfeminist thoughts abt it. So they do self inserts on fictional trans women, like how cishet women use BL for relationship fantasies

What else is there, than ostracizing the accused? Organization. The very thing we’re bad at. Proactively protect the members of your community, including the accused. Negotiate apologies, restitution, and boundaries to prevent further abuse. Resolve the issue, and then let it lie. 16/

Do you know what happens, when a person who’s deeply terrified of being an abuser gets put in a position of power? Often, abuse happens. Not because the person was right about their nature; but because their fear blinds them to their own actions. Every error is a potential ego threat. 11/

I actually did find myself arguing from the Not All Men side more than once. I was a closeted trans woman at the time, and harbored quite a lot of shame over the impulses of my body, being raised in a patriarchal purity culture. It was deeply important to me to not be seen as an innate abuser. 8/

I think this is what the most principled of the Not All Men folks think they’re saying: many people still subscribe to the penis = evil model of gender, and that’s harms everyone. We need to make sure we’re modeling the conflict at the material and structural level, not at the ontological level. 6/

Obviously, the truth is that gender qua gender has nothing to do with it. The modal rapist is a cis man because patriarchy ensures cis men have structural power over everyone else. Cis men are not “naturally” or “biologically” predisposed to rape. Rather, they are inducted into a rape culture. 5/

As far as the queers went, we of course allied on the “not cis men” side, as was right and proper. :3 But because MeToo was predominantly a cis movement, its effects broadly reinforced cisgenderism. If you think gender is immutable, and you think men are rapists, then manhood itself is poisonous.

So in essence: this argument only works if you are perpetually stuck in a loop where you are pointing out how cishet relationships suck for women but never beyond it. They cannot imagine people outside of their cisheterosexual misery, whether by social conditioning or not, can exist in a viable way.

"I didn't want to transition at first because I was the only short haired tomboy-butch lesbian etc and I wanted to be an example of progressive and powerful women" Too many trans men say this. Cishets are fucking lazy. They are piggybacking off trans people even in their own cishet gender wars.

Challenging the very cishet ASAB standards is a revolutionary act in itself. Trans women who want to pass accidentally having standards that match the society's standards for cis women, and not wanting to be seen with fucking beards is not an attack on GNC ppl. I hope ppl are less daft about this.

Cis-ness as wounded attachment is an incisive take: “In a politics of woundedness, mobilisation against an apparently threatening ‘other’ can seem like justice, even when that ‘other’ is another, perhaps even more, marginalised group.”

Imagine that this a take that will get you cancelled in many supposedly ' 'queer', 'queer-friendly', 'feminist' & 'progressive' spaces. It really shows how much neoliberal culture destroyed critical thinking skills and obliterated most class consciousness organized around shared material realities.

We live in a batshit crazy world. And of all the crazy things I can think about right now, tribalism is the one that terrifies the most. Yes, it speaks of my experiences. Yes, it speaks of my biases too. Yes, it’s perhaps not the most dangerous. I am honestly more and more scared by this world. Ugh.

To their defense most cis people never interacted with transsex ones. It's thus unsurprising if they identify 'trans' with the non-transitioning cissexed folx. For this group, being trans is mostly a socio-political stance mainly divorced from material reality & analysis. In other words: a costume 😕

One of the most striking analytical reframing I recall stumbling upon emphasized that you don’t get to choose *is* and *isn’t* feminism. All are. I‘d add that if we look at ‘feminism‘ as a big incestuous family, a lot of problematic behaviors and harmful dynamics immediately start to make sense.

Sofie @sofleuri.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
It’s so exactly that. Entitled pseudo-‘revolutionary’ and pretentiously ‘systemic’ takes, which in fact hide a considerable ignorance of the world and ACTUAL systemic analysis skills (!!!), fueled by the putrid desire for simple one-size-fits-all fixes alongside moral superiority EVERY FUCKING TIME.

This is why trans solidarity is the most important thing to me. It’s really easy to hate and denounce the gender you were assigned at birth until you see how it liberates someone you love. I love femininity because it is good for the girls I love. I love masculinity because it is good for me!

Maybe we need to have a big sit-down as a community and like, discuss the difference between masculinity and patriarchy and how not every culture performs masculinity the way America does, because like… holy shit
“I've never understood how you can be a feminist and not hate masculinity tbh.
Like even before I Knew I had nothing but disdain for the entire structure of what it means to be 'a man' in our culture, there's no part of it which isn't built on domination, subjugation and hierarchy.”

George has another banger article about ME. ME/CFS, POTS, MCAS and EDS are all neglected illnesses by our systems. ME can kill. It's like brushing AIDS under the radar. Look after the people with ME in your life. Believe them. Give them mutual aid. Even if they cannot speak, be there for them.

The harsh reality is that a lot of what we name ‘recovery‘ is in fact a lie wrapped (as almost always) in a fucking individualistic neoliberal lie. I have yet to read an account from someone who ‘recovered’ while being under minority stress, mostly alone, in a situation of economic hardship, etc.

Guess being a devoted lifelong sun-hater helps a ton, but don’t forget sunscreen (LRP Anthelios I ❤️ you) and retinoids (I recommend the 4th generation ones—i.e. Aklief). But still conpletely dizzy by being perceived SO young 😵‍💫🫥😶‍🌫️

This is an incredibly enlightening take, which highlights how for both AFAB parents and cisfeminism to mature, they have to consciously integrate their misandrist shadows. But this first requires acknowledging that misandry *can* be a real systemic force, which the both firmly oppose—of course.

It also boils down to *privilege* as a term—which I tend to use when I am furious or want to lash out—but who my other selves profoundly despise. *Being not affected by* would be so much more specific & adequate IMO. Because else we conflate socio-pol analysis with an essentialization of people 🤢 🤯

The purpose of a system is what it does. Mainstream academic queer theory is exclusionary, if not outright eliminationist towards transsexual women. Intent and origin of what it was and was supposed to be doesn’t really matter in the face of what it currently is and does.

A sad but prevalent phenomenon. I'd just add that it's mostly unconscious, most never fully realize what they are doing. The power of unconscious biases is incredibly powerful, it's because of that that they are so difficult to be detectable by whoever is infected by them 😭

One of the reasons I hypothesize why trans mascs / men often struggle to fully embrace their masculine selves is because this in fact amounts to losing status as (potential) victims. It's then unsurprising that they try to emphasize their AFAB status as a way to retain its associated social power.

Although rarely recognized as such, this is spot-on in my experience as a transsex woman: Non-transsex-centered queer theory is fundamentally divorced from empirical reality. It amounts in practice to transsex erasure (or compels it), beginning with *a compete epistemicide of our lived realities*.
