Self Care Tips from Tumblr (this is rolling around again so I thought I'd reshare it here) #raccoons #selfcare

Self Care Tips From Tumblr, illustrated by Maia Kobabe: When you feel like everyone hates you, sleep. When you feel like you hate everyone, eat. When you feel like you hate yourself, shower. Someone out there feels better because you exist. (illustrated with cartoon drawings of raccoons acting out the recommended advice)

I saw Backrooms this weekend and boooy-howdy. I wanted to rewatch it before I even got out of the theater. I expected it to be good but it exceeded my expectations.

Yeah 100%! The hand grenade is named after the pomegranate, which came from French/Latin for "seedy apple."

Quite literally the fruit that frag grenades are named after! I do love them though... They make me feel like a vampire or a debaucherous emperor.

I could be misinterpreting what you're wanting but have you heard about the NLA editor/Animation Layers? It's kind of like tracks of animations that you can pre-make and stack on each other. I'm not familiar with the details but you can look up Joey Carlino's tutorial about Layers and see more

Trans people are my allies and if my government chooses to see them as an enemy than the government is my enemy as well. Fuck the state. Fuck the creep pedophiles that run shit. We will win and we will make a better world with them not in it, and some day we will laugh and dance on their graves.

Oh I was just speculating. I haven't used Storyboard Pro in years! Unless you're talking about Harmony. I just dislike the harmony brush tool because the pencil tool is so much better for line consistency, editabilty etc.

110

Sofia @sofillustration.com · 02/12/2025

I am not a board artist so this is just my theory: in Storyboard Pro the lines are like the brush tool in Harmony (aka ass) and they group into a big glob if they're over lapping and you can't edit easily later???? This assumes that the auto-flatten is turned on tho so idk

It's not just individuals it's also industrial farms who leave food in the field and over plant even though they can't ship all of the food they have to cities before it rots. Those farms can grow 10 cabbages throw away 5 and still sell cheaper than a small local farm who wastes nearly nothing.

The actual pdf from ReFED is way more helpful than the article. It actually breaks down all the different sources, causes and food types.

"Where Does Surplus Food Come From?
The charts below show where surplus food comes from, why it is wasted or lost, and the types of food that aren’t
getting eaten, using data from 2023. Understanding how much surplus is generated by each sector, what causes the
most surplus, and which food types are most commonly wasted help identify the solutions that will most effectively
target these hotspots."
- There are three pie charts with labels "Sector, Cause and Food Type" with a list of percentages below each matching slices of each respective chart.

Sector

Residential - 35.2%
Farm - 23.8%
Manufacturing - 17.8%
Foodservice - 17.2%
Retail - 6%

Cause

Trimmings & Byproducts - 30.4%
Excess - 23.6%
Not Harvested - 19.7%
Spoiled - 12.1%
Date Label Concerns - 5.8%
Food Safety - 2.4%
Buyer Rejections - 2.2%
Mistakes & Malfunctions - 1.8%
Other - 2%

Food Type

Produce - 43.7%
Prepared Foods - 20.2%
Dairy & Eggs - 12.7%
Dry Goods - 9.5%
Fresh Meat & Seafood - 4.6%
Ready-To-Drink Beverages - 3.8%
Breads & Bakery - 3.2%
Frozen - 2.3%

People in general are not as bad as the news and internet would have you think and I can’t help but feel like the focus on the awful ones is by design so we collectively abandon humanity as a lost cause. I will refuse to ever give up on us. We can always get better.

Both my parents are sorta "hipster" so I have some detrimental gaps in pop culture knowledge. But, my dad showed me Ghost in the Shell (1993) and I think that was a keystone for me becoming an animator.

I told my friend once: If you're looking for answers to questions you don't have because you just feel like there are things you don't know, that's anxiety not learning. You gotta work until you have a question, even though it means messing up, because that's how you find the right questions.

There is a LOT of overlap! "Vaults" are important in both (with different contexts). Also weird guns and evil corporations. Borderlands takes place on alien planets. Fallout is Earth but a "50s-Americana" alternate future. That's it. Borderlands is arguably goofier but Fallout is a bit silly too.
