Snickster (she/hers) @snickster.bsky.social · 29/09/2026After arriving at the friend's place, she informed me that I had been "had" in the most NYC 1980s way. He probably dropped me off far from the friend's building so the doorman could not interfere. So, I taught my kids to never get in a non-official cab/car. A lesson I learned the hard way. 010
Snickster (she/hers) @snickster.bsky.social · 29/09/2026The driver dropped everyone else off first. I still have no idea what parts of the city we may have driven to. Finally he dropped me off, but a full block from the place I was staying with a family friend. The fare was $75 cash. I paid & dragged my non-wheeled suitcase down the block at midnight. 111
Snickster (she/hers) @snickster.bsky.social · 29/09/2026My first flight & visit (from Los Angeles) to NYC, in the 1980's, I arrived JFK and was so naïve and oblivious and no one had "tutored me" on NYC. I was in my early 20s. A driver approached me and I accepted the offer of a ride. I joined a group of 4-5 people in a car to Manhattan. 110

Snickster (she/hers) @snickster.bsky.social · 19/04/2025Yes, we have spent a significant amount of time in NZ since 2020. We were disappointed that you have your own version of MAGA (lite, at least for now), but we believe it is not as bad, largely because you don't have Fox News in NZ. But you do have Facebook! 110
Snickster (she/hers) @snickster.bsky.social · 19/04/2025I'm about to leave the country for 1 month - actually on April 20. The same day that Trump might "Insurrection Act" the US. How worried should I be for my 22 and 24 year old kids while I'm gone (citizens, white-passing) and should I prepare them in any way for what may hit while we're in NZ? 930217

I always felt like the lack of Fox News in NZ was a key factor in NZ politics being more sane. More like pre-MAGA US politics. I hope the anti-Maori treaty stuff is inspiring NZ pakeha to be politically active & resist. 110
