It's a sad truth. I love books like Connecting Arithmetic to Algebra (Schifter, Russell, & Bastable). We HAVE help students make connections to Algebra BEFORE they get to Algebra! Algebra shouldn't be the scary monster lurking at the end of middle school/beginning of high school. #ElemMathChat

After “taking apart numbers and putting them back together” I would add “so you can use them flexibly.” I think many teachers think if they teach students how to take numbers apart and put them back they have number sense. Isolating number sense ideas is a common issue I see. #elemmathchat

One of my favorite things in the world is when a friend who is not in edu spaces comes across something mathematically baffling, and their first instinct is, "I will reach out to Shelby because she will help me make sense of this." Idk why, it just makes me really happy to be that person for them.

I didn't really do my eyebrows until maybe 3ish years ago. I just went and dug around in my makeup bag to find the eyebrow pencil I've been using - NYX Fill & Fluff. Very beginner friendly, I just trace the shape of my brows, pass the fluff brush to get rid of harshness and then lock it in with gel.

NYX The Brow Glue is pretty solid, just keep a paper towel nearby to wipe off excess product if you notice too much on the wand. I also liked Just Browsing from Clinique for clear gel.

I used a clear brow gel to wrangle the escape artists into their rightful place for years. Then the back half of my eyebrows started disappearing in pictures so I switched to a tinted gel.

Another difference is who is directing the violence.
Once, universities saw their computational power exploited by researchers working for the Department of Defense. Today, universities are being infiltrated by a commercial industry (albeit one that receives a staggering amount of money from defense contracts) that exploits students and faculty as data mines, test subjects, and a perpetual supply depot of future users, all for their own profit.

E.V.I.L.'s head of agent operations is Dr. Corrine Eyam. She has a strange method for scheduling meetings among E.V.I.L. agents: she draws a graph showing agents as nodes and meetings as edges. She colors the edges depending on which day the meeting will happen.

In the example on the left, agents 1 and 2 meet Saturday, 5 and 6 meet Wednesday, 1 and 5 meet Friday, and so forth.

(Pictures show graphs, and associate the days Monday-Saturday with six colors.)
