"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence
they did the research in the first place because they believed you and wanted to tell people about it. they are not our enemies.

they did listen, that's how studies work, they asked people about their experiences and put all the data together in a nice package that can be cited

Lanterns' take on the GL ring being a thing that anybody can wear and use rather than a thing that ONLY works for the chosen user is kind of cool. It adds a certain level of utilitarian usefulness to the thing.

It's okay to like comic books and cartoons and video games, but you as an adult have to realize that none of this shit is important or real. It's fun and it can be very meaningful to you on an individual level, but it will never be worth getting all that upset over.

You're more than allowed to feel that a new interpretation of something you like isn't clicking for you, of course. But Hal Jordan is, as previously stated, a cartoon. He's been around since the 50s, but he's still not a real man with a legacy and a whole life that he lived.

I think a big thing that I hate within "nerd culture" is this need for every single thing you like to be taken 100% seriously and treated with respect at all times as if it's historical fact. I love comic books as a medium more than almost anything, but I've never felt that way about fiction.

The Lanterns discourse has been fascinating to watch. I've liked the show a lot so far, but seeing people upset over the show "disrespecting" Hal Jordan is sort of bewildering to me because like. Hal Jordan isn't real. He's a cartoon man from a comic book for children.

Eeyore has always been my favorite winnie the pooh character because his sadness is never treated as a failing or a burden. He's just sad. He likes his friends and he wants to be a part of their lives but also he's sad. I always liked that.
