#biomechsky question. Is there a way to plot opensim models/kinematics/ whatever native from python? That is, without opening an opensim window, can I plot a vsiualisation of my results of the sim? If not, why not? And would you be interested in it?

Or, maybe you need to know one (either alignment or position), but you would probably be able to estimate the other than, right? And wouldnt that be optimal over assuming these both? Or is this optimisation problem simply to underdetermined then? My gut feeling says this should be possible?

Ok, one last, maybe ignorant question. You assume known IMU locations and sensor to segment alignment(time invariant), and then fit model on angular velocity and acceleration. Would it be possible to use orientation data in addition, and by doing so estimate the time invariant parameters?

The 2D one you provide goes straight to their journal club. Will be tough, but fun I think. We discuss similar thing for IK from mocap data (journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...), so they should be able to handle this I feel.

yet, the implementations I've looked at in some detail (OpenSense, XSense MVN) do not seem to use this? Does anybody do this, or not? If not, why not? Too hard (seems unlikely)? Does not add anything?

Sjoerd Bruijn @smbruijn.bsky.social · 04/03/2025
Ok, sky help me out here. If doing inverse kinematics using IMUs, is really only the orientation of the sensors used? It would seem that if you have a reasonable estimate of pos of sensor on segment, given kinematic chain, you would also know acc, and hence, could use that info for better fit. 1/2

Cool stuff, like the addition of electrodermal conductivity. One question: before, you used “promoted”? The term “perturbation based balance training”, why do you call it reactive balance training now? Is it a different thing? Or changed insight which makes the change of term needed?
