I've been working on this for a little while. I'm pleased with it but really didn't enjoy working with the silver thread around the border. (Pictures traced from an annual onto wash away guide paper - I'm not very good at drawing things myself)

A circular embroidery frame with a stitched picture of three Orinocco Wombles in various poses.

My silver Great Uncle Bulgaria jewellery charm arrived finally! It was pretty expensive, but I love it so much! I'm not sure if I'll buy the others since they're so expensive. It's definitely a far off goal and I'm definitely going to pace myself. Maybe I'll make a Wombles bracelet haha

This Mesolithic amber figurine from Denmark is conclusive proof that The Wombles were around long before the 70s.

A mall orange figurine carved from amber, with a long snout, facing right. Officially it is a bear, but it has the distinctive whiff of Bungo to us.

Tidy Bag – Remembering the Wombles @tidybag.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

The Wombles TV series began on this day in 1973. Here’s my in-depth article, originally written for the 40th anniversary and slightly updated for the 50th in 2023.

It's 50 years since The Wombles first appeared on our TV screens in stop-motion animation, starting on 5 February 1973 on BBC1.

I made these for someone, but I figured why not share these here. The template I made for the foldable shopping bag on Wooacry. The front and back are the same, so you can use each template for both sides.

I should experiment with stop motion again, making this was a lot of fun
