Busy-ish morning. I'm breaking things I need to get done down into small tasks with little rewards when they are done. Earlier I sorted some stuff I brought from my parents house, so I got to sit with a cuppa and read the latest issue of Film Stories. Washing up is going to result in getting lunch.

I'd better sleep tonight. (Kinda worried that I ate quite spicy food, and possibly some stuff a I shouldn't have because having been spontaneous about going out, I decided to be adventurous about what I had for lunch.)

I've had a good day with my former shop kid. Bit of role reversal, she is the boss now! Lots of happy visitors to the stall. And I came away with a few goodies too. You can check out her stuff at www.cindacry.co.uk - her socials should be listed there for details of her next events too

Holy moly. I've made a spontaneous decision to get up and leave the house tomorrow without at least 24 hours notice to prepare myself. What have I done? I'd better get some sleep.

Time to attempt some sleep. It's plumber roulette again this week. Will they turn up and finish the job? Will the tiling get done? Will I be able to get a shower before I shave my head in sheer frustration at how heavy my hair feels when it needs a wash?

The other half should be home from visiting his brother for the weekend very soon. I should probably get the kettle on.

I had the pleasure of working with Tony Currie when I was crew for a fan event in the early 00s. Wonderful fellow, I'll miss him.

Last night seems to have been a one off. Not looking likely that I'm getting any sleep again tonight.

A lovely old friend passed away yesterday after a short illness. They had been able to tell us they didn't have long and all their friends got to express our love and say goodbye. I'm going to miss them.

Managed to actually get some decent sleep last night! Yay!

Best night's sleep in ages (without pharmaceutical help). The current sense of relief at the lack of the sound of running water from upstairs is bliss.

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

It's oh so quiet! Plumber came today with a new bath, it's erm..complicated but they need to come back next week and turn it around (or rather back to the orientation of the other bath) and there's tiling and fixing of a cupboard to be done but, no leaking tap sounds!!!

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

At my parents sorting through more of my stuff. It's not easy going through the doom piles of a past life, but I found lots of things I had forgotten I had. And quite a few shoes, but only one of each. 🤔 Back to it.

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Clearly I did jinx it. I am frustrated but not that surprised that the plumber didn't ring today and hasn't responded to a message. It's getting ridiculous.

The other half will be home in a few hours with tales of his adventures at the Wild South West Rally weekend. So I'm leaving anything that needs doing until tomorrow and I'm going to write a blog, then read for a bit.

020

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

This morning I'e swept the stairs and cleared the landing. (I don't want to jinx it but we may be getting the bathroom sorted - a leaky tap has turned into needing a replacement bath). Next up is sorting out as much space as possible for them to maneuver whichever door they decide they are using .

010

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Making up for doing not a lot yesterday but doing lots today. Some washing done and on the dryer already. I have wrestled the vacuum cleaner from hell into submission and done the back room and the kitchen. I need to do the stairs next. But first - more coffee!

010

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Right, I am properly caffeinated and I've had a reasonably sensible breakfast. Time to start the Birthday shenanigans.* *Not really shenanigans. I'm going to ignore the stuff that needs doing in the house and watch cheesy Cliff movies and eat comfort food.

I have been fighting a losing battle with ancient technology today. It's my own fault really for various reasons, some of which involve boundary setting. (Sorry to be vague, just having to vent a smidgen in order to let it go and the other half isn't home). A work around is in place for now.

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

After spending yesterday convinced it was Friday, I now think it is Sunday. Only awake because the other half has gone out on the bike. Hoping for a little nap before my alarm goes off.

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Despite sleeping better I am clearly still tired, as I have just tried to make coffee in my breakfast bowl. 🤦

010

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Managed a decent amount of sleep last night at least. I did have someone sending updates at midnight but he's one of my longest standing friends and I only answered the message because I was still awake. I'll do his updates after I've eaten something.

I've been working on this for a little while. I'm pleased with it but really didn't enjoy working with the silver thread around the border. (Pictures traced from an annual onto wash away guide paper - I'm not very good at drawing things myself)

Now my delivery has arrived I can start the day properly. I am cooking this evening and some of it involves marinating some chicken. So that's first on the list to give it time to give the fullest flavour. After that it's mostly chopping stuff later and chucking it all in the oven 😂

Anne-Marie @mysticgreen.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Is it wrong that I am currently excited that today I should be taking delivery of not one but two pairs of (hopefully) snuggly slippers. And tomorrow a new fluffy hoodie arrives! Winter prep continues!

Sleep would be nice. Saturday was a messy day of wildly erratic moods for no good reason. Cat napped so far tonight but really need proper sleep.

I have genuinely felt the effects of this all day. It doesn't usually linger this long.

I've been working on an embroidery for a couple of days. I'm still a novice but this one is going so well I keep looking at it in disbelief. Probably jinxed it now. Hoping to finish it over the weekend, then I'll share some photos.
