Serpens Nebula (NIRCam image). A nearby home to newly forming stars (around 100,000 years old). 🔭 🧪

A rectangular image with black vertical rectangles at the bottom left and top right that indicate missing data. A young star-forming region is filled with wispy orange, red, and blue layers of gas and dust. The upper left corner of the image is filled with mostly orange dust, and within that orange dust are several small red plumes of gas that extend from the top left to the bottom right, at the same angle. The centre of the image is filled with mostly blue gas. At the centre, there is one particularly bright star that has an hourglass shadow above and below it. To the right of that is what looks like a vertical eye-shaped crevice with a bright star at the centre. The gas to the right of the crevice is a darker orange.

The Phantom Galaxy with its stunning, well-defined structure. The central core glows a bright blue, surrounded by sprawling, delicate spiral arms.

Image Description: This image showcases the spiral galaxy M74 (The Phantom Galaxy) with its stunning, well-defined structure. The central core glows a bright blue, surrounded by sprawling, delicate spiral arms. These arms are filled with intricate webs of gas and dust, which are highlighted in shades of dark brown and gray. Numerous bright pink and red regions are scattered throughout the spiral arms, indicating areas of active star formation. The overall appearance of the galaxy looks detailed and ethereal, as it appears against the deep, dark backdrop of space.

Eye in the sky. You're looking at the Ring Nebula, the remnant of a star that had the mass of 3 suns and exploded ~4,000 years ago. 🔭 🧪

This image of the Ring Nebula appears as a distorted doughnut. The nebula’s inner cavity hosts shades of blue and green, while the detailed ring transitions through shades of orange in the inner regions and pink in the outer region. The ring’s inner region has distinct filament elements.

Full detailed image of a star factory. Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex is the closest star-forming region to Earth, and producing several sun-like stars each year. 🔭 🧪

$Red dual opposing jets coming from young stars fill the darker top half of the image, while a glowing pale-yellow, cave-like structure is bottom centre, tilted toward two o’clock, with a bright star at its centre. The dust of the cave structure becomes wispy toward eight o’clock. Above the arched top of the dust cave three groupings of stars with diffraction spikes are arranged. A dark cloud sits at the top of the arch of the glowing dust cave, with one streamer curling down the right-hand side. The dark shadow of the cloud appears pinched in the centre, with light emerging in a triangle shape above and below the pinch, revealing the presence of a star inside the dark cloud. The image’s largest jets of red material emanate from within this dark cloud, thick and displaying structure like the rough face of a cliff, glowing brighter at the edges. At the top centre of the image, a star displays another, larger pinched dark shadow, this time vertically.$

I love artists whose stylistic tics are so dominant and easy to identify that it seems simple to imitate what they do, but in practice, it’s completely impossible to make anything of value with their tools. number one on this list is Flannery O’Connor

They wish to use appeasement on Putin, and it's not going to work, Look at what they did to Czechoslovakia on March 15, 1939. Once they take Ukraine, the rest of Europe is in trouble. That rotund orange is a disaster, how were Americans this idiotic to put such a creature in power?

MIRI version of NGC 2566. This galaxy is located only 76 million light-years away from us. 🔭 🧪

A spiral galaxy, seen close-up. Its core is a round spot that glows intensely bright, crowned by eight long and spikes that extend across the galaxy, artefacts of the telescope’s structure. Its disc is an oval shape with edges made of very thick and cloudy arms of gas and dust, mostly blue but paler and brighter around patches of stars. Wisps of darker dust also fill the inner disc and swirl off the ends of the arms.

Gorgeous stained glass piece made by my friend @stonkers.bsky.social, inspired by the medieval Old Gaelic poem, Pangur Bán. The poem was written by a monk who would work tirelessly at his studies as his cat, Pangur Bán, faithfully hunted mice. www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazi...

A stained glass piece about 2 ft tall and 1 ft wide, depicting a medium haired white cat sitting on top of a stack of large hardcover books, two off white candles glowing nearby. In the background you see tall, arched church windows with a round window above them. The glass set in the windows is a mellow dark blue like the night sky. That in combination with the candles gives the scene a feeling of cozy nighttime.

here's a little self indulgent piece #art #arcane

$an illustration of jayce and viktor from arcane. viktor stands in the center, still wholly human, but distorting and melting into various sections of the illustration. overlaying him are several rectangles, inside of which are parts of viktor as the machine herald and a single, half burnt frame of jayce's face within. inside the rectangle above his torso, is viktor's bloodied hand and a depiction of a torn up chest, exposing tangled wires, fractured metal and tiny, floating silhouettes of jayce and viktor after their discovery of hextech. blood and purple liquid drips out of the box, leading to an isolated heart in jayce's hands. in the background are two larger images of jayce and viktor in their final forms– jayce, as depicted in act 3 of season 2, while viktor is in his machine herald form. in the foreground are silhouettes of the two partners facing each other.$
