Midnight X-Men was great fun. For some reason my brain saw Bishop Nightcrawler and I got my hopes up that the inciting incident might have been The Leper Queen’s plan from Holy War actually happening and somehow causing the whole vampire situation. While I was disappointed, this is on me.

We reversed the gender roles, so it’s controversial that Andrew’s looking after his sister’s estate. As the male characters were all military of some sort, men fight wars, but they can’t inherit. And Andrew’s courting a woman we all suspect of being a vampire.

Last night I started a two-shot of Good Society 2E’s QuickStart from @storybrewersroleplaying.com last night. A return from the military brought up some old feelings, some longing and rumours of all manner of scandals for our cast.

A rumour board:
A young village girl went ‘to relatives’ for nine months right when Wendsworth took off to the Navy. Coincidence?
Pennyworth gave Lady Jane an engagement brooch.
Andrew lost the family fortune (later revealed to be true)
Fitzwilliam threatened Wendsworth not to marry Jane (who still loves him) because he doesn’t want to lose his estate.

I often try to differentiate between Rules and Ritual for those sorts of things. Witch: The Road to Lindisfarne definitely has to be played RAW with all of the rituals it asks of the group, but would seem to have very few rules to the more trad observer.

Horror on the Orient Express was great fun. We found two definite non-cultists in the list of suspects, but the cosmic horrors piled up and we never made it to Constantinople. Hopefully we’ll do better next time.
