Quebec trip recap from day 4! We explored the Montreal underground and went to a fancy camera store, but they didn't have the camera my wife was looking for. I adventures solo in the afternoon and went to Fairmount Bagels, and my wife and I had our anniversary dinner at Lola Rosa!

Quebec recap day 3: My wife was feeling under the weather so I biked around the city! Got a smoked meat sandwich from Schwartz's Deli, stopped at Cafe Dispatch, walked around Parc St Fontaine, and made my way down to the artsy/queer neighborhood in Le Village

Quebec Recap Day 2 - we took the train out to Île St Helene and looked at Parc Jean Drapeau! We rented electric scooters and rode around the Parc for a bit, saw the Mosaiculture Sculptures, and briefly visited the Montreal casino.

Quebec Trip Recap: Day 1 - walked around Old Montreal, then through the city to a fancy stationary store (Nota Bene Papeterie). In the evening, went to LOV, a vegetarian restaurant, to meet up with my cousin and her husband who were visiting Montreal on their honeymoon!

Just made it home from our anniversary trip to Montreal and Quebec City! I tried to take a break from posting while on vacation but I'll do a recap over the next few days. Today, we came back through Vermont and New Hampshire, and it was amazing to see the colors of the leaves in the mountains.

It's hobonichi day! I ordered my 2027 edition from www.thepapermouse.com -- a local stationary store that goes all out for hobonichi. Most of the covers I had my eye on already sold out but I got a fun one! I've used the 2026 planner every day so far so I'm looking forward to using it in 2027 too!

Did a bike ride this morning, after getting my hair cut and before going to my cousin's wedding in Rockport. Rode up to the softball fields, around the Williamsburg condos in north Chelmsford, and up around freeman lake. Also, got some free local corn from a farm stand by the community garden. Yay!

I hope people read this. This includes a great breakdown of the proposed legislation in Massachusetts which includes guard rails for data use and collection, and importantly limits the use of information collected by traffic cameras for anything but enforcement.

Thinking of throwing my office's Return to Office meeting into chaos by asking "if I go into the office every other day (including weekends), does that count as three days or four days for the RTO mandate" and restarting the dumbest forum thread of all time (Context: youtu.be/eECjjLNAOd4?... )

14 hours later and my mentions are still full of angry treatises about badly behaved cyclists. Bike lanes are not a reward for good cyclist behavior! They are infrastructure proven to make cities safer for ALL ROAD USERS. Whatever way cyclists have wronged you is irrelevant to the discussion!

I downloaded strava today. Wanted something to track my walks and bike rides and sync it to something like wandrer.earth to show where I have and haven't been. I kinda hate it? It feels steeped in personal bests, grindset culture, and fitness purity. I just want to ride on my ebike and walk places.

I could swear I made this Tactics meme before but I couldn't find it, so I made it again
Scene from the Simpsons where a diner waitress is saying "I hate it when the waffles stick together," except she's holding a ring of Tactics Ogre characters saying "I hate it when the ogres clinging together."Same scene; screenshot of the cook saying "sticking together is what good waffles do," but it's modified to say "Clinging together is what tactics ogres do." This is a reference to the video game "Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together."

Took a bike ride out to west Chelmsford, over to friendship park (where I got a Dirty Soda), out to the rail trial and Heart Pond, then back home. A decent ride, I'm a bit exhausted now. Selfie is from my trip to cafe eclipse earlier, I just think it looks cute.

Biked to work today! Took a more direct route through Lowell and Billerica. Was a little rough (Billerica SUCKS for cycling, most of the roads are 40 mph stroads, and there was construction everywhere), but I made it there safely and in under an hour!

Tripper and rolled my ankle going down the stairs this morning, so no bike ride for me today. 😭 Still feeling pretty cute and stylish and wanted to enjoy the nice weather, so I drove to church and downtown after for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. But I'll probably need to rest up a bit.

“DAC at the scale needed is mostly a fantasy” It is VERY USEFUL for scientists to say this out loud, as much as possible, since blind faith in carbon removal is one of the baseless ideologies justifying the continuation of fossil-fuel use among global policymakers.

Statement from @bikeboston.bsky.social, @streetsboston.bsky.social, and @walkmass.bsky.social about Louisa Gag, who was hit and killed by a driver today. Yet another life taken because our society and leaders refuse to address the destruction wrought by cars.
We are devastated by the loss of Boston resident and transportation planner, Louisa Gag. On Thursday morning, a driver struck and killed Louisa on her bicycle commute to city hall along Tremont Street near Roxbury Crossing.
Louisa Gag is not just a number on a spreadsheet; she was a champion for safer streets, a vibrant part of the planning and advocacy community, and a person dedicated to fixing the very system that failed her.
MASSACHUSETTS VISION ZERO COALITION
Prior to joining the city of Boston's Transportation Department, Louisa graduated with a masters from the Tufts Urban and Environmental Planning and Policy program and worked at Livable Streets Alliance. Our hearts are with Louisa, her family, and all her colleagues and friends at BTD, UEP, and in the advocacy community.
Fatalities are a heartbreaking reminder of the safety gaps in our infrastructure. Inaction and needless delays have consequences. Changes must be made to dangerous streets before we lose a community member, not after.
We need safer streets now.
