Exactly. Some of us could see that all the way from the southern tip of Africa - that’s why we can’t get over how many Americans voted for him. 🤷‍♀️

Of course, less #Antarctic winter sea ice means less sea ice in summer too. And that brings knock-on impacts to the global #climate system. aapp.shorthandstories.com/a-world-with...

🌊 Antarctic winter sea ice at 3rd-lowest level on record. “How sensitive is the global climate system to this loss of sea ice? We're still working to put numbers on that. But the system is changing faster than we are understanding it.” — Will Hobbs @utas.edu.au ▶️ www.theguardian.com/world/2026/s...

UPDATE! It's actually good science mangled by a wrong-end-of-the-stick press release. John Timmer at @arstechnica.com does a great job of respectfully debunking it, pointing out what the research *actually* suggests: arstechnica.com/science/2026... (hat-tip @tommyblanchard.bsky.social)

I've known about VAERS - the Vaccine Adverse Effect Reporting System - for a long time. Based in the US, it's an important tool in making sure that people are able to report anything unusual or dangerous which has occurred after they have had a vaccine. In this way, if there are any issues with the vaccine - be in a specific batch or anything else - then they can be quickly reported and dealt with before they affect too many people.

A med student asked me today: "Why does cold mucus turn yellow or green? Does that mean I need antibiotics?" Millions of people panic when they see green. They think it’s a bacterial takeover. But the biology is actually fascinating and way less scary. Let me explain.🧵
