Even 5.6 Terra immediately obsoletes 5.5, with higher intelligence for less money
and they're all available in standard ChatGPT subs... unlike a certain model that's going away from subs tomorrow.

Nolan, I’m a college student, 22, on my 4th year of college, writing my undergrad thesis right now, with somewhere around 4-5 years of programming experience, living in a third-world country, with just around 6 months of industry experience (internship). And while what I’ll express here may hold little to no weight, I still want to put a little bit of my thoughts here, regardless.
I take programming as a craft. Not just as a means to an end. And that extends well to how I approach my training, my learning, my everything. I worry about writing clean codes, I worry about how other developer will react to maintaining projects I’ve put my hands on, I try to learn multiple stuff besides just pure programming and coding, so on and so forth. Basically, I center my whole life, career, and living around this thing.
And to see that, before I can even join the industry, AI has taken over and basically made what I do slowly “obsolete”, in a way, it’s… discouraging, so to say. It’s not that I absolutely despise AI and the capabilities they bring to the table, not really. Hell, I myself have used AI to learn, to debug, to sometimes to create stuff. And I’ve tasted the whole acceleration part, and the part where AI is just creating unnecessary friction. And at this point, I think I got a bit of a good grasp of when to use what. And usually, the first solution isn’t AI.
But, what I despise is that, programming and tech, the act of writing, maintaining, fixing softwares, systems and everything that entails, the very things I center my whole existence around, my whole craft, the only thing I know I am good at, is now being seen as “replaceable” by AI. That we suddenly need to “evolve” into this new world, into this state of just what I take as like watching from the sidelines. I don’t want that to happen. I love being in the field. And I mourn that at this point, I may need to learn how to manage and orchestrate, rather than to write and debug.
