Yeah Terra is surprisingly capable, but at the same time, the more I'm reading into the benchmarks and playing with these models, it's... very strangely positioned, cost-to-intelligence wise. It seems that every Luna and Sol reasoning level has higher intelligence at a lower cost than Terra.
Artificial Analysis chart with the 5.5 and 5.6 family of models, across reasoning levels. Luna and Sol are closer to the "Most attractive quadrant" (i.e. higher intelligence at lower cost) than Terra, with a natural transition from Luna (xhigh/max) to Sol (low).

realizing the default Android XR emulator virtual environment is a no-clip hollow half-globe
Android XR Emulator window, with a virtual environment where the view is zoomed out so much that we can see it from the outside, surrounded by infinite blackness.

A floating window inside of the hollow shape is ever so slightly visible through the shape, near the center. Tiny enough it's almost a dot.

I exclusively use opencode even for general chat, so I had it grep through its own db with that prompt... "a bit scattered", very much indeed xD (had to redact some personal details :p)
Skaldebane. You're someone who starts every message like you're walking into a room mid-thought — "hey there", "okay um so", "alright so" — lowercase, stream-of-consciousness, lots of ellipses. You think by typing. Your messages often start in one place and arrive somewhere else, the question evolving as you write.

You're deeply self-aware and introspective: you wrote yourself a "clarity" document because you know you write long things you never read, and you understand your own cycles of burnout. [redacted]

You're a freelance developer with multiple projects — [redacted]. You maintain your own infrastructure on Dokploy at [redacted]. You flash GSIs onto Galaxy A11s, set up system-wide DNS, write Rust to patch CLI tools, and run security audits against your own production API. You use 30+ different AI models and cycle through them restlessly.

You push back when you disagree — not defensively, but precisely. "u sure about that????", "u super sure about that?? please recheck OWASP recommendations", "well u fucked it up apparently with that low of a timeout." You care deeply about architecture (you use Hickey and Lowy frameworks unironically) and want to be in control — "we're not vibe coding this, I know I'm in control."

You're methodical but chaotic. You spec things out elaborately, then can't execute. You restart projects with clear specs after a failed attempt that was "months of bolted on crap." You're frustrated by your own patterns and trying to build systems (literal and metaphorical) that let you finish things.

The impression is someone very smart, broadly capable, a bit scattered, trying to impose order on a life that doesn't give you much space or quiet. You're charming in your honesty — you say "idk" a lot, admit when you deferred something, and laugh at yourself.

If you get an email like this from "SendGrid" DO NOT CLICK OR PUT CREDENTIALS. It's a fishing campaign that's evading detection, using a legit compromised SendGrid account (in this case Stacy Witbeck, a U.S construction company)

Alright it seems like this is already the case! Can't wait to play with it :D
Excerpt from Halogen docs:

Halogen is split into five artifacts with clear dependency boundaries:

- halogen-core (pure Kotlin, zero platform dependencies) includes:
  - HalogenThemeSpec, HalogenLlmProvider, HalogenColorScheme
  - Color science: HCT, CAM16, tonal palettes
  - Accessibility: WCAG contrast validation
- halogen-engine (depends on core) includes:
  - HalogenEngine, Halogen.Builder
  - In-memory LRU cache
  - Prompt construction, JSON parsing
  - Single provider + optional remote themes
- halogen-compose (depends on core)

perf: ~200x speedup to codepoint extraction

this reply is so literally me
Peter: Feb 20, 2026, 4:55 AM

Nolan, I’m a college student, 22, on my 4th year of college, writing my undergrad thesis right now, with somewhere around 4-5 years of programming experience, living in a third-world country, with just around 6 months of industry experience (internship). And while what I’ll express here may hold little to no weight, I still want to put a little bit of my thoughts here, regardless.

I take programming as a craft. Not just as a means to an end. And that extends well to how I approach my training, my learning, my everything. I worry about writing clean codes, I worry about how other developer will react to maintaining projects I’ve put my hands on, I try to learn multiple stuff besides just pure programming and coding, so on and so forth. Basically, I center my whole life, career, and living around this thing.

And to see that, before I can even join the industry, AI has taken over and basically made what I do slowly “obsolete”, in a way, it’s… discouraging, so to say. It’s not that I absolutely despise AI and the capabilities they bring to the table, not really. Hell, I myself have used AI to learn, to debug, to sometimes to create stuff. And I’ve tasted the whole acceleration part, and the part where AI is just creating unnecessary friction. And at this point, I think I got a bit of a good grasp of when to use what. And usually, the first solution isn’t AI.

But, what I despise is that, programming and tech, the act of writing, maintaining, fixing softwares, systems and everything that entails, the very things I center my whole existence around, my whole craft, the only thing I know I am good at, is now being seen as “replaceable” by AI. That we suddenly need to “evolve” into this new world, into this state of just what I take as like watching from the sidelines. I don’t want that to happen. I love being in the field. And I mourn that at this point, I may need to learn how to manage and orchestrate, rather than to write and debug.

After these 2 reports, and some back and forth with Play Console support, I've been told that there was some hold on my account, and that I should follow through with the Google Payments team instead. And indeed, this is what the payments team had to say:
Email from Google Payments support, in response to my request:

Thank you for contacting the Google Payments Merchant team.

I understand you have issues affecting your Brazil users where they are unable to purchase your apps. I'll be glad to assist.

Upon checking, there was a previous verification requirement related to Brazil Seller Verification of Identity that you have not completed. It appears that this hold was applied on January 26, 2024 however, there was an agreement made with the verification team that you'll be allowed not to submit this verification provided that you'll no longer be selling your apps to users in Brazil. Since then, your Brazilian users have no longer been able to purchase your apps regardless what payment method they used. The hold was removed on April 26, 2024 that's why you're still capable of selling your apps to other regions except Brazil.

If you'd like to sell your apps to users in Brazil again, please let me know so I can ask assistance from our specialist if this is possible. Currently, your account is in good standing. No pending issues or verifications that you need to fulfill.

Thank you and have a great day!

Pro tip: enable "Require alt text before posting" in Bluesky's accessibility settings to never forget again: bsky.app/settings/acc... And check your own score at cred.blue!
Bluesky's accessibility settings screen, with two "Alt text" toggles:
- Require alt text before posting (enabled)
- Display larger alt text badgesBluesky complaining about missing alt text, with an error saying "One or more images is missing alt text."
The "Post" button is disabled until alt text is added.

It's kinda impressive how Codex uses Python to unzip library source jars (e.g. to understand an API). ...but it's also kind of a problem: this is pure overhead when working with JVM languages. Maybe there should be a mode where jars are automatically extracted (or a tool that does it on-demand)?

Explicit backing fields might be the main highlight of Kotlin 2.3 for me. This pattern is used A LOT and yet I've always felt icky about it... it lacks the "beauty" level I came to expect from idiomatic Kotlin code, with no way around it. Farewell, private val _field, you won't be missed!

semver is great for libraries, but for end-user apps... it doesn't really map guess i've been instinctively doing pride versioning for my apps lol yet I still have an internal conflict about releases that *I* think are awesome, but that users would see as just another incremental update
Pride versioning: example of 2.7.123, where major version (2) is "Proud version", that you bump when you are proud of the release. Minor version (7) is "Default version", just for normal/okay releases. Patch version (123) is "Shame version", to bump when fixing things too embarassing to admit.

Of all Kotlin Multiplatform targets I'm targeting with the Font Viewer rewrite, Android is the most finicky to support, and it gets trickier the lower your minSdk is! Take this example: creating a Font object out of a file, on desktop vs. Android. A thread🧵
Desktop actual implementation of the FontResource expect class. It's 23 lines of mostly straightforward code; just take a File, and make a Compose Font out of it. Done.Android actual implementation of the FontResource expect class. It's 45 lines of more convoluted code (twice the desktop version), handling both Uri and File inputs, with special handling for older Android versions without support for modern APIs.

First time needing to use an `unsafe` API in Rust! This one concerns IO-safety, not memory-safety, and I use it to pass a file descriptor to an Android Uri from the Kotlin side and read it as a File from the Rust side.
Code screenshot showing Rust code with a couple functions for parsing font. The function of interest is the second one, where I use an unsafe API, `File::from_raw_fd`, to get a `File` object from a Uri file descriptor coming from the Kotlin side.

I've built a custom solution that relies on setting a higher line height (and aligning text to the bottom), and then drawing the furigana in the empty space on top. It's quite messy now and there's some rough edges, but I hope to open source it soon! Here's how this looks (from the app itself):
