Survive Style 5+ (2004) Technically, only one of the 5 stories in this anthology is horror-adjacent, but I'm counting it. Surreal, funny, colorful, and unexpectedly sweet. If Tex Avery directed Japanese movies in the 00's, this is what he might have come up with. 7.5/10

My Brother and I were up late one weekend in the living room of the house we grew up in Paducah Ky . I was probably 8 , and my older Brother was 10 or 11. He was on thew couch , and I was in my Dads recliner , and I dont know if it happened during the Movie or after we fell asleep later , but my Brother was screaming and crying in terror , sitting up holding his stomach , his eyes were glazed /glossy and he was yelling he was having a baby , I can remember my parents rushing in , and trying to comfort him /wake him up , whatever . I'm convinced , he suffered a brief possession type episode and nobody ever talked about it again . I brought this up to my Mother a few years back before she passed about it , and she said she was convinced and said , "I believe something got in him. We grew up in a Christian household , and I have never watched that movie again. My Son who is 24 now , knows about what happened and occasionally messes with me "Hey lets watch Beyond the door" which I don't find funny . We are both saved /born again Christians and I don't allow these type movies in our home. It wasn't a dream , I saw him , his eyes and the way he howled in pain holding his stomach with his legs spread , like a woman in labor . I have only told a few people about it , and my Brother doesn't rem any of it. Thats all I have , thanks for reading and b careful watching these type of movies , as I believe , something can actually come out / possess the watcher .

Nightbreed (1990) Kind of a painful watch, all the more tragic for it clearly being an earnest passion project for Clive Barker. Some genuinely great makeup effects, a good Danny Elfman score, and not much else. 4.5/10

A couple of mutants (a lady with porcupine quills and a guy with a moon shaped head), and a masked serial killer, who was definitely a hat on a hat plot-wise

Touch Me (2025) This movie is a lot of things, but predictable isn't one of them. Shifts back and forth from silly sexy sci-fi horror to trauma-triggering themes of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse in a truly jarring way. Incredibly dark humor, I'd be careful who I recommend this to. 6.75/10

The Haunting (1963) Groundbreaking black and white film that suffers from everyone having already seen hundreds of books, movies, and TV shows it inspired. Noteworthy for an early nuanced and empathetic depiction of a lesbian character. 5/10

The Exorcist III: Legion (1990) This could have been an absolute mess of a movie, bogged down by too many studio notes, if not for the sheer force of will of noted weird little guy Brad Douriff as the spirit of a serial killer possessing a dead priest. 6.5/10

Hellbender (2016) A fun coming-of-age folk horror movie with a small budget. Made by the Adams family smack in the middle of the COVID lockdown. Clever storytelling given the restrictions of the times and resources. 6.25/10

Few hours into Well Dweller. It's a very passable Hollow Knight clone. Features like autotravel from anywhere and not dropping currency on death make this a good beginner Metroidvania. The art and the dialogue have a lot of charm, and the music is good. Try the demo on Steam or Switch.
