Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

Friendly reminder/PSA approaching spooky food season: activated charcoal has gotten popular as a black dye and interferes with a TON of medications. The worst documented interaction is with mycophenolate, an anti-rejection med many transplant patients (like me) take. But there are many dozens more.

"The other side is worse and we're trying to be more like them" like is that really their selling point here?

We've seen this enough times already. Adopting anti-trans positions doesn't let you absorb center-right voters. It lets the Republican party absorb you.

Siobhán Dougall @siobhandougall.com · 12/09/2026
"The Republicans are totally right about the one manufactured issue they're actually talking about" isn't a compelling argument for *anyone* to vote for a Democrat. If you were leaning R because of this one issue, it just confirms your choice; if you disagree with it, it risks losing your vote.

Really disheartening to see so many Democrats loudly declaring their intention to lose in the midterms. (Obviously even worse to be seeing it from under this bus.)

("Trans-friendly" is underselling the importance, of course. It makes the difference between in-range and out-of-range for a lot of tests, and can throw values off entirely for things like eGFR.)

The phone is an old-school wired black bakelite model. Lisa-Skye is standing between the drum set and the piano, and in his signature style rocking green hair, black fingerless gloves, a blue and black flannel shirt, a white and black plaid skirt, and a pink and black necktie. He appears dramatically shocked by what he has learned from this phone call.

oh shit it's Loving Day hooray for Loving v. Virginia, my marriage, and inclusive constitutionalism, and fuck originalism forever tinyurl.com/originalismt...
screenshot of an excerpt from The Originalism Trap reading as follows:

Virginia defended the legality of its anti-miscegenation law on
originalist grounds. The o-word was still not in common usage, but
the analysis is unmistakable: the state argued at length that the
meaning of the Constitution is fixed at the time of adoption and
courts must give effect to the intent of the Framers and the people
who adopted it. If one accepts that premise, they continued, there’s
no constitutional problem with criminalizing interracial marriage. screenshotted excerpt from The Originalism Trap reading as follows:

North Carolina submitted an amicus brief that echoed Virginia’s
claim that courts cannot deviate from the Constitution’s original understanding and expressed skepticism about the Court’s authority
to disrupt historical legal bigotry: “Unless, therefore, the Fourteenth
Amendment is construed as a grand commission which constitutes
the federal courts as a species of judicial privateers to sink every
state ship in sight if they do not like the cut of its sails, then the historic position asserted by Virginia is clearly sound.” We should pay
no attention, apparently, to the fact that the “sail” in question was a
giant, billowing Confederate flag.screenshotted excerpt of The Originalism Trap reading as follows:

The Supreme Court’s decision in Loving should be read as clear
and compelling guidance for constitutional interpretation: the substance of due process is bound up with the values of equality and
antisubordination, and the originalist notion that a case could or
should be resolved based on an identifiable original understanding is
infinitely less instructive than the Fourteenth Amendment’s command to the government to confront America’s caste systems—

Addendum: Sadly this illustrates why ideas alone are useless as IP! Turns out someone had patented a design a year before she arrived in New York, and then lost their patent because others were starting to manufacture them—it was just an obvious idea. I'm sure she thought of it, but wasn't first.

ERASERS BRING HER FAME
Mrs. Houston, Originator of Rubber Pencil Tips, Brought to St. Louis for Burial
St. Louis, Mo.—The body of Mrs. Mary E. Houston, reputed to be the originator of rubber eraser tips on lead pencils, was brought to St. Louis for burial. Mrs. Houston, who was 85 years old, died at Greenwood, Miss., of apoplexy.
In 1859, Mrs. Houston said, she entered a stationery store in New York city to purchase a pencil. She asked the clerk why rubber tips could not be placed on the pencils. The clerk called several officials of the firm and explained her suggestion. Before she left New York, Mrs. Houston said, lead pencils with rubbers attached were advertised there for the first time. The stationery house refused to admit it was indebted to her for the suggestion.

This shop (which never carries anything by JKR) explicitly specializes in underrepresented voices and authors, so they decided not to restock HR given its clear mainstream success. That was apparently enough to break someone's grasp of reality.
