Super weird at first. Leaning into my Darth Vader era now though.

“Lose no opportunity of practicing on the organ; there is no other instrument which takes a swifter revenge on anything unclear or sloppy in composition or playing.” – Robert Schumann. Musical Rules for Life and Home, 1848.

Peak St. Louis experience today: following two semis hauling the Budweiser Clydesdales. Windows open. Could actually look in and spot the horses.

So we took off and landed and now we are in St. Louis. And the parking shuttle is here!

It’s 1:48am. Boarding hasn’t started yet. It almost did but not quite. Caucus of four gate agents doesn’t bode well.

Found C101. This delay is brutal. Not taking off until 1:51am. Even with the time change, church is coming up…fast.

I’m in Newark which is an airport that never fails to baffle me. Gate C101? Sure. Let’s have a ginormous terminal with over 100 gates. Except I only see 70-138. One time I swear I had a mystery gate that departed from a closet somewhere. I had to ask like six people where it was.

Hey remember Certs? I think I used to buy those in the airport. Turns out they were discontinued in 2018. Who knew??

I’m about to land in Newark. I’m supposed to play church in St. Louis just before 8am central time. Follow along for more travel updates!

Seriously thinking about cutting out of work early just to go home and listen to Martinů. Anyone else?

David Sinden @sinden.org · 28/05/2026
From now on, Marinů is the only person allowed to orchestrate with piano because he Gets It. I’ve never heard the piano sound so natural in an orchestral texture before. Puts others to shame.

Biggest Freudian slip from the president today: “to the victim go the spoils” Yes, we know. You’re a great big baby who is always being wronged by someone. Isn’t it just grand that you’re also the commander in chief?

Things I have dropped under the organ pedals for the first time this week: 1. An AirTag 2. My wallet 3. About half the notes to Matthew Owens’s “This joyful Eastertide” Surprisingly, though, not a single pencil.
