My "Caesar, né Extus, bunch of random cards I like slammed together that makes like 20 different kinds of tokens" deck probably. It's the most "made by me" of my decks and a persistent work in progress.

You don't just a book only by it's cover the cover makes you pick it up and read the dust jacket. Gosh... why did this turn into a rant?

Do note, by "pretty" I am including everything from your Persona 5 to Balatro to Dwarf Fortress Steam Edition to Lethal Company... there is a broad spectrum of... let's call it "sufficient visual and UI polish to not worry me a game is going to be bad".

… but I have played many very pretty games with terrible gameplay… and ugly games with excellent gameplay… so it's no guarantee either way… I guess you probably need the reviews/word of mouth to find out about ugly good games or that pretty games are bad… good pretty games get more chances.

Gameplay is important to most people… possibly the most important… but it is hard to believe gameplay promises… you usually have to "feel" a game to know if this is a good (e.g.) power-up platformer VS one of those annoying frustrating ones. Nice graphics signal care which implies good gameplay.

I always think of @loadingreadyrun.com for these. I would say less "review" and more "play it on stream" type of deal but they have a number of "personalities" I think would be down for cosy horse ranch sim or whatever.

I can see how this is a balance... like... ideally you are going through your pulls and "realizing slowly" that it's a God Pack... this "spoils the surprise" in a way... I guess everyone needs to learn a new "pack trick" to hide the golden ticket slot and cut to the "normal" rare slot or something.

For 1:1000 (since it doesn't apply to Collector Boosters) they might be willing to open the purse strings... they should anyways.

I had been thinking how the extra foil commons and uncommons in Collector Boosters are treated like junk (some even complaining about them) whereas foil commons and uncommons used to be an exciting upgrade. Making these significantly harder to pull will bring that back at least... right?

Really enjoying Fields of Mistria. While I've played a number of Animals Crossing and Harvest Moon-likes... I am still feeling like "Guy who as only ever played Stardew Valley" here... not complaining but it really does give "Stardew Valley vibes". Way more than Fae Farm.

Pitch for Marvel Comics (which I don't read regularly enough to know if they've done this before). You know that Marvel's Midnight Suns game? Make a comic of just the "hanging out" bits... every issue starts with everyone returning from a mission and ends with everyone heading out again.

Some MTG cards might seem confusing but, just remember the old adage: Reading the latest Oracle Text of a Card, along with any relevant rules in the Magic: The Gathering Comprehensive Rules and rulings in Gatherer for every card in play, explains the Card. (This post inspired by rule 206.3a)

This looks amazing! I've always* thought it would be awesome to have a delivery/foraging/lifesim game that prioritized enjoyable and challenging traversal! *(OK, only since a Genshin Impact hid a taste for it under whatever game they thought they were making.)

Ran out of people in real life to gush at so: I'm very excited a library branch is opening near me. I grew up near a library and my 1st apartment was near one… but it's been ~15 years since I've been able to walk to the library. Bookmobile or ordering to the community centre's fine but not the same.

So, is that real/true? If so, how much do writers need to read? Can an aspiring writer start by building up their "reading muscles" or do I need to enjoy reading more than average to have a hope of becoming a writer? [5/5]

Google+ Enthusiast @sinbadev.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I think the idea here is that creative writing is, in a way, an advanced form of the skills required for reading. Plotting uses the same mental muscles as following a plot, imagining what happens next in a novel you are reading or writing are a similar way of thinking... and so on. [4/5]

In Stephen King's "On Writing" he spends quite a bit of time selling this idea from a number of angles but the part that stuck with me is that if you haven't figured out how to make time for reading in your life, you probably don't enjoy reading enough to write. [3/5]

As part of my preparation, I would like to share "writing advice I've picked up over the years". Not "advice I am sharing" so much as "air out thoughts for public discussion and critique". My first #WritingTips post is the one I assume is the least controversial: "Writers Read"... [2/5]

I am planning on trying the "write a novel in November" thing again this year. Since I've never gotten past the first few thousand words I am going to take a very laid back "do what I can" approach rather than picking one of the various "rule sets" that exist. [1/5]

Continually improving is marketing... like a "positive FOMO". Minecraft (Java Edition) is really the best example of this... so long as new people are born, there are new people who could be sold Minecraft, and this strategy should keep working for them unless they fumble and let it stagnate.

I was just thinking about this in regards to those notorious electric car feature unlocks... there are two paths to additional profit for a product like these: - Entice new customers - Squeeze existing customers The low-price early adopter getting the updates free optimizes for the first category.

They would have been a good choice to recommend to new to Magic Star Trek fans… so it's a pity they cut them… While I agree this is most likely just logistics… I suspect the Beginner Boxes are a low margin product… so were first in line to be cut when logistics issues were anticipated.

We probably forgot about it because it couldn't outpace the gran gran and badgermole cub decks... and then had new toys in Hobbit to play with when they banned all those cards LOL I was already considering rebuilding it to try out Master of Barbs when Reality Fracture drops, now I will for sure.

I do an annotated google maps screenshot with helpful arrows added and then photos of the two awkward and easy to miss turns and my front gate. If they need to park, this requires a supplemental guide to nearby visitor parking.
