So Cambridge to Cambourne Busway (C2C) is happening then. Will be interesting to see if CPCA Mayor Bristow, who said at the inquiry, that he may not support buses on it, sticks to his words. (from Oct 2025: cambridgetownowl.com/2025/09/30/c... and www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambrid...)

This is a draft of what Cambridge’s new transport network might look like. Frustratingly vague on what ‘Mass Rapid Transit’ actually means. Past form says ‘buses on roads with signs prohibiting other traffic’ others say it could mean light rail. cambridgetownowl.com/2026/09/02/g...

A major strategic weakness in the draft Local Plan is that it doesn’t recognise that mass transit is needed to support the economy and the development plans. The Local Plan should set out a vision for a transport network fit for purpose. Pretending buses are enough doesn’t come close to adequate.

A post jointly authored with Cambridgeshire Sustainable Travel Alliance Bus services across our region could be cut by 38% by 2035, due to rising costs and insufficient public funding. A key reason for the shortfall is Mayor Paul Bristow’s pledge to freeze the Mayoral Council Tax Precept which supports buses. KPI 4: % of bus passengers very and fairly satisfied with bus journeys in the region
Commentary
Interim survey results for February to June 2025 show that 84% of bus passengers surveyed in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough were very or fairly satisfied with bus journeys overall. The survey has not previously been
undertaken in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough so no historic data is available and no direction of travel can be shown. Satisfaction with bus journeys nationally was also reported as 84%, showing that the region's performance
is in line with this benchmark. When full year results are available these can be compared against the interim results, with surveys in future years expected to allow further trend analysis.
Other headline figures from the interim survey results show that the region outperformed the national average on satisfaction with value for money (68% against a national average of 64%), bus stops (82% against 81% nationally)
and the punctuality of buses (79% against 76% nationally), bus drivers (88% against 87% nationally). Satisfaction with the length of time bus journeys took was below the national average (80% against 84% nationally).
